In 1969, Honda birthed the modern superbike era with the four cylinder CB750. Later performance milestones included the premium cross country Gold Wing tourer in 1975 and the lightweight, high power CBR900RR Fireblade in 1992.

In the modern era, Honda introduced automated shifting via Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) technology. Following a highly successful 26 year partnership with Hero, the company established independent operations in 2011 as Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI). It is backed by an extensive dealer footprint spanning over 500 cities, HMSI heavily commands the Indian market through its genuine commuter lineups.
