Honda Shine Expert Review

“Honda Shine feels like a bike made for everyday life. It’s light, quick, and easy to move in traffic. Fuel use is low, so you save on petrol often and the seat is comfy for short and long rides. Its design is simple but very practical for daily commuting.”

4/5

The Honda Shine is one of the safest and most satisfying commuter bikes in its segment. It’s been on Indian roads for years and has earned a solid reputation among daily riders. It’s built for comfort and ease.

Honda Shine - Overview

The Shine is stylish enough to like and practical enough for daily use without a second thought. Honda has nailed the balance here, which makes it appealing for both young professionals and family buyers. Let’s know what we get to know about this bike during our test ride.

5/5

  • The design is clean, with just enough premium touches like a chrome outline near the headlamp and a 3D Honda logo on the tank to make it feel special.

Honda Shine - Headlight

  • When you walk up to it in the morning, it has a neat and organised look that you don’t get tired of over time.
  • The body panels feel well put together, and the 18-inch alloy wheels give it a balanced and confident stance on the road.
  • The seat height of around 791mm is friendly for most riders, whether you’re tall, average, or a bit shorter.

Honda Shine - Seat

  • The seat padding feels just right. It is soft enough for comfort, but not so soft that you sink in after a long ride.
  • Riding with a pillion is comfortable too, as there’s enough space and the suspension keeps bumps in check.
  • Even after 40–50 km of riding, your back and shoulders feel fine, due to the upright riding position.

Honda Shine - Tail light

5/5

  • The bike gets a 123.94cc single-cylinder engine, which feels lively enough for city rides and calm sufficient for longer stretches when you need them.

Honda Shine - Engine

  • When riding through traffic, the gear shifts feel light, and the bike doesn’t feel stressed even when you pick up the pace.
  • The engine is tuned to give good pickup without gulping down fuel, so you can enjoy the ride without worrying about mileage.

Honda Shine - Fuel Tank

  • In stop-and-go traffic, the Shine doesn’t heat up much, which makes your daily commute a lot more comfortable.
  • You can expect a real-world mileage of around 53 kmpl, which means fewer visits to the petrol pump.
  • Regular servicing is affordable, and spare parts are easily available at most Honda service centres.

Honda Shine - Side Indicator

5/5

  • The Shine feels easy to steer in narrow lanes and quick U-turns, which is great for busy city riding.
  • The telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks absorb small potholes and rough patches without making the ride bouncy.
  • On slightly uneven roads, the bike remains stable and doesn’t shake around, giving you more control.
  • At higher speeds on open roads, it feels planted and doesn’t wobble much, even with a pillion.
  • You get the option of drum brakes or a front disc, so you can choose based on your budget and preference.

Honda Shine - Brake

  • The combined braking system (S) makes stopping safer by distributing brake force between the front and rear wheels.
  • In sudden braking situations, the bike stays straight without skidding much, which is reassuring for daily commuters.

Honda Shine - Suspension

4.5/5

  • It comes with a semi-digital console that gives you all the basic info without feeling cluttered.

Honda Shine - Digital Console

  • The silent start system is a nice touch. There’s no loud cranking sound when starting early in the morning.
  • The idle stop-start feature can save fuel during long traffic signals, which adds up over time.
  • Tubeless tyres mean fewer headaches if you ever get a puncture, and the USB charging port is handy for long days out.

Honda Shine - Tyre

  • It competes with bikes like the Hero Glamour, TVS Raider, and Bajaj Pulsar 125.
  • While some rivals offer sportier styling or more tech, the Shine wins on its proven performance and all-rounder nature.

Honda Shine - Indicator Switch

4/5

If you want a motorcycle that you can just start and ride without worrying about much else, the Honda Shine is a great pick. It doesn’t try to be flashy or overly aggressive; it’s simple, efficient, and built to keep you happy on the road for years. For city commuting and occasional highway runs, it’s hard to go wrong with this one.

    Dependable and Smooth Everyday Bike

The Shine is dependable for daily commutes and occasional longer rides. Mileage is around 50 km/l, and the 10.5-litre tank lasts a few days. Telescopic front suspension and spring-loaded hydraulic rear shock make the ride forgiving. Disc brakes front and drum at the rear work well in traffic. Tyres are 80/100 front and 90/90 rear, providing enough traction. I reached a top speed of about 102 km/h comfortably.
