TVS Radeon vs Hero Splendor Plus: Which Should You Buy?

The price is also lower than the Hero Splendor Plus by Rs. 20,000 when you compare the two at their base level. Moreover, it comes with a larger 109.7cc engine compared to the Splendor Plus’s 97.2cc engine. It also offers more power along with several modern features that the Splendor Plus lacks. The advantage of the Splendor Plus is the service network that it offers throughout rural India.

TVS Radeon vs Honda Shine 100: Which Should You Buy?

The Honda Shine 100 is lighter (99 kg vs 113 kg) and Honda's low-maintenance reputation is hard to beat. However, the Radeon starts Rs 8,000 cheaper, offers a bigger engine, USB charging, LED DRL, and a 5-year warranty compared to Shine 100's 3 years. The Shine 100 wins on manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

TVS Radeon vs Bajaj Platina 100: Which Should You Buy?

The Radeon offers a more premium design, better comfort and useful features compared to Platina 100. It also gets a slightly more powerful engine, sturdier build quality and is more affordable by Rs 8,000. However, the Platina 100 stands out with its excellent mileage and lower maintenance costs, which make it a better choice for daily commuters.

TVS Radeon Monthly Cost of Ownership

Cost HeadEstimated Monthly CostAssumptions
FuelRs 1,000 – Rs 1,400/month60 km/day × 25 days, petrol at ₹100/L, real-world 64 kmpl
Insurance (annual ÷ 12)Rs 250 – Rs 400/monthThird party: Rs 1,500/year; Comprehensive: Rs 3,500/year
Scheduled ServiceRs 0 for first 4 servicesFree services included; post-warranty Rs 800/service
Tyre Replacement (amortised)Rs 100 – Rs 150/monthTyres last 30,000 km; replacement Rs 1,200–1,500 per tyre
Total Monthly EstimateRs 1,350 – Rs 1,950/monthAssuming 1,500 km/month usage

Fuel cost of approximately Rs 2,300 per month is the cost of running the Radeon for 1,500 km per month in real-world driving at Rs 100 per litre of petrol. That's far lower than options such as the 125cc segment, and makes the Radeon one of the most affordable commuters to operate in the marketplace today.

TVS Radeon Expert Opinion

“TVS Radeon BS6 is a well-built, fuel-efficient commuter with classic looks. It’s easy to ride in traffic and feels stable at city speeds. The seat height is low, so most riders can handle it easily. Brakes could be sharper, especially in the drum variant. The mileage is excellent, making it light on running costs. For daily use, it’s a smart and practical choice.”

4/5

If you want a simple yet special commuter, the TVS Radeon stands out. We’ve ridden many commuters, some too basic, others too flashy. The Radeon is what a person needs for daily office commutes, simple design, very reliable and fuel efficient. The BS6 version adds cleaner emissions and small updates without losing personality.

TVS Radeon - Overview

We rode it in traffic, on quiet streets, and on short highway stretches. It feels natural from the moment you get on. The bike’s old-school charm gives it a classy touch, especially in special edition colours. Let’s know more about what we found out about this bike.

5/5

  • The Radeon keeps its upright shape, round headlamp, and flat seat. It feels instantly familiar when you first see it.
  • The chrome touches on mirrors, levers, and tank pads add a premium look. Older commuter bike riders will feel a touch of nostalgia.
  • Build quality feels solid, with tight-fitting panels and neat switches. Even the welds look clean and well-finished.

TVS Radeon - Exhaust

  • We rode over rough roads, and there were no rattles or noises.
  • The 18-inch alloy wheels give the bike a planted stance. They also improve overall balance compared to smaller-wheel commuters.

TVS Radeon - Clutch Lever

4.5/5

  • The basics are done right in both variants. You get an analogue or digital instrument cluster, depending on the model.
  • There’s a clear side-stand indicator for safety. Also, an optional USB charging port helps when your phone battery runs low.
  • The LED DRL under the headlamp keeps you visible in traffic. It also works as a helper light in dark parking spots.

TVS Radeon - Headlight

  • We also spotted that the tail carrier is included for added practicality. You also get a luggage hook for groceries or small bags.

TVS Radeon - Tail light

  • There’s no gear indicator or tachometer on the display. However, the essential info, like speed, fuel, and warning lights is always easy to read.

TVS Radeon - Digital Display

5/5

  • The BS6 engine is a 109.7cc single-cylinder with fuel injection, generates 8.08 bhp and 8.7 Nm of torque.

TVS Radeon - Engine

  • While riding through city lanes, we could easily crawl in third gear without the bike shuddering. This makes stop-and-go traffic much easier because you aren’t constantly shifting gears.
  • Acceleration from traffic lights is peppy enough to get ahead of slow-moving vehicles, and the throttle response feels direct without being jumpy.
  • On the highway, it’s happiest at around 70-75 kmph. Push it beyond 80 and you’ll feel a light buzz through the footpegs, and the engine starts to sound busier.
  • The 4-speed gearbox is light to use and shifts cleanly every time.
  • During our rides, we got around 63 kmpl in the city and just under 60 kmpl on the highway, which means it’s one of the most fuel-friendly options in its class.
  • You can comfortably get 600 km or more with a 10-litre fuel tank.

TVS Radeon - Fuel Tank

  • TVS offers the first four services free, and their service network is quite widespread, so maintenance shouldn’t be a headache.

4.5/5

  • While testing, swinging our leg over the bike was easy due to the low seat height. So, shorter riders will find it very approachable.

TVS Radeon - Seat

  • At 5’6”, we could flat-foot comfortably at stops. The riding position is upright and relaxed.
  • Even in an hour of traffic, we felt no wrist or shoulder strain. The seat padding works well for daily commuting. However, on rides over an hour, lower-back support would help.
  • The pillion comfort is fine for short and medium trips. The seat is long with easy-to-hold chrome grab rails. The pillion area gets narrower towards the back.
  • Moreover, the bike’s suspension feels firm at very low speeds over bumps. It smooths out well once you pick up speed.

4/5

  • TVS Radeon’s light weight and balanced chassis makes weaving through traffic easy. It feels steady but never heavy to steer.
  • The handlebar is wide enough for control yet narrow for tight spaces. We could slip through gaps without clipping mirrors.
  • In the city, it’s nimble and responds quickly to small steering inputs. On the highway, it’s stable until around 70 kmph.
  • Cornering grip from the TVS Dura Grip tyres is good for daily rides. On gravel or wet roads, more caution is needed.

TVS Radeon - Rear Tyre

  • The drum brake setup has a soft bite and suits gentle stops. In emergencies, you need to use both brakes firmly.

TVS Radeon - Brake

  • The disc brake variant feels more confident but could be sharper.  TVS’s SBT balances braking between front and rear effectively.

5/5

The TVS Radeon BS6 is a commuter that knows its job and does it well. It’s easy to ride, well-built, comfortable for everyday use, and very fuel-efficient. It gives you a dependable, pleasant ride every day at an affordable price.

TVS Radeon - Indicator Switch

If your priorities are daily commuting, low running costs, and a touch of classic style, the Radeon is worth a serious look. Go for the disc brake variant if your budget allows, as it adds more confidence when stopping.

TVS Radeon Pros and Cons

A Strong and Simple Bike for Daily Work

I bought the TVS Radeon in January for my daily office travel and family work. The big 18 inch tyres are great because they give a very smooth ride and keep the bike stable, even on bumpy roads or over speed breakers. The best part is the 63 kmpl mileage, which saves me a lot of money on petrol every single month.

Comfortable Bike for Daily Office Commutes

I am a proud owner of TVS Radeon for more than 2 years and it has been my one of the best investment till now. I use this bike daily for up-down to my office. It gives around 60-62 kmpl mileage in city use. My daily run is 25 km, so my monthly fuel expense cost is 1,200 to 1,250 rs. The bike's comfortabe seat is one of the thing that I like most. I highly recommend this for daily use or office commuting.
