Honda Hornet 2.0 Expert Opinion

Honda Hornet 2.0 is a solid upgrade over the CB Hornet 160R, offering more power, sportier styling, and useful new features. It now comes with a segment-first upside-down front fork and a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth, navigation, and alerts via Honda RoadSync. It is a great option for daily use with a touch of sporty flair.

5/5

The Honda Hornet 2.0 occupies a unique position in the Indian motorcycle market. It’s not quite a 160cc commuter and not quite a 200cc performance bike either. Instead, it finds a middle ground, offering a mix of sporty styling, decent performance, and everyday usability. But does it deliver enough to justify its premium pricing? Let’s take a closer look.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Overview

4.5/5

In terms of design, the Hornet 2.0 has a strong visual presence. It carries a sharp, aggressive look that immediately gives the motorcycle an edge over more conventional 160cc machines. The LED headlamp with DRLs sets the tone for the modern aesthetic, while the bold tank extensions add a muscular, streetfighter-inspired stance.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Headlight

During our inspection, we liked most about the bike’s design was the gold-finished upside-down front fork, which is rare in this segment and adds a sense of premiumness. The Hornet definitely looks like a bigger bike than it is.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Rear Tyre

However, when you look closer, there are some areas where the quality falls short of expectations. The black plastic panels around the tank and the underbelly cowl feel a little cheap. But the overall styling still manages to stand out, especially among other 180cc offerings.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Tail Light

5/5

The Hornet 2.0 gets most of the basic features. The bike comes equipped with full-LED lighting all around, which enhances visibility and aesthetics. It also comes with adjustable brightness levels, which are handy during day and night riding.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Switches

The biggest change to the 2025 Hornet 2.0 is the addition of a new 4.2-inch TFT display, featuring Bluetooth connectivity through the Honda RoadSync app. The TFT display shows essential data, including speed, trip meters, gear position, battery voltage, and fuel level.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Digital Console

Moreover, the Honda app also includes turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, and SMS notifications. The motorcycle also comes with dual-channel ABS, which is a much-awaited feature for this bike.

4/5

When it comes to comfort, the Hornet 2.0 is clearly built with daily usability in mind. The riding posture is upright, with just a slight lean forward that gives it a mildly sporty feel without straining the rider. The seat height is accessible for most riders, and the overall ergonomics feel well thought-out.

The seat is wide and supportive, offering good comfort over both short and medium distances. Even in city traffic or while navigating congested streets, the bike feels manageable due to its light kerb weight of 142 kilograms. Overall, the comfort level on this bike is top-notch.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Seat

5/5

The Hornet 2.0 has a 184.4cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 17.03 bhp and 15.9 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox and delivers a smooth and predictable riding experience.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Engine

In city riding conditions, the bike feels responsive and capable of quick overtakes. The clutch is light and the gearbox is slick, which makes a big difference in stop-and-go traffic. On highways, we cruised the bike comfortably around 85 to 90 kmph.

Moreover, the engine can go beyond 100 kmph. We noticed the absence of a sixth gear, which would have helped make highway cruising more relaxed. Apart from this, the strongest advantage of the Hornet 2.0 is its fuel efficiency.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Fuel Injection

In our testing, the bike returned an impressive mileage of over 43 kmpl in city conditions and around 47 kmpl on the highway. This makes it one of the most fuel-efficient motorcycles in its category.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Fuel Tank

4.5/5

The ride and handling of the Hornet 2.0 are also quite commendable. The USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear make the suspension setup feel balanced. It offers a comfortable ride across most road conditions. It absorbs potholes and small bumps well.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Front Suspension

At higher speeds, the bike remains stable, and cornering feels confident and controlled. Furthermore, the lightweight chassis and agile nature make it easy to weave through traffic and enjoy twisty roads on the weekend.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Indicator

Apart from this, the braking performance is decent, with the front disc providing good bite. However, the rear brake could use more feel. But the dual-channel ABS affects the overall braking confidence. So, you can confidently ride the bike on all terrains.

Honda Hornet 2.0 Brakes

5/5

So, should you consider buying the Honda Hornet 2.0? If you’re upgrading from a smaller bike and want something that looks premium, handles well, and offers excellent fuel efficiency, the Hornet 2.0 is a well-rounded choice.

 Honda Hornet 2.0 Exhaust

It has enough performance for everyday riding and a level of refinement that Honda is known for. This bike rivals the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. Overall, the Honda Hornet 2.0 is a value for money bike.

Comfortable Clutch Action During Daily Rides

The Hornet 2.0 feels well sorted for daily city riding. The tubeless tyres give me more confidence on regular roads, while the assist and slipper clutch make gear changes feel smoother. I especially like the clutch when riding through traffic because shifting does not feel tiring. The bike also has a sporty feel without being difficult to handle. Overall, it feels like a good choice for someone who wants a stylish bike with useful features for everyday riding.

    My Sharp Street Cruiser!

This bike looks super aggressive and turns heads everywhere you ride! The wide tyres give amazing grip on city roads, making every corner feel solid and safe. That smooth engine pushes all the way up to a 130 kmph top speed on the highway without feeling harsh. The bright TFT display is super easy to read, showing speed, gear position, and ride info clearly even in bright sunlight. The seat feels a bit firm on long trips, but for a stylish, quick, and fun bike every single day, it is awesome.

It Keeps the Riding Experience Clean!

There is a lot of information to keep track of while riding, but the TFT meter presents it in a clear way. I can check my ride data without spending too much time looking at the screen. The assist slipper clutch adds a different kind of benefit by making gear changes smoother. Together, these features give the Hornet 2.0 a more modern feel.

    Made My Daily Ride Smarter!

I bought the Honda Hornet 2.0 mainly for my daily rides, but some features have turned out to be more useful than I expected. The Honda RoadSync connectivity helps a lot when I'm going somewhere new, as I can easily follow directions while riding. The bike is also quick when needed. With a top speed of 130 Km/h, it feels comfortable on highways and has enough power for longer rides outside the city.

    Lighting & Night Riding

While riding late evenings, the lighting performance feels quite good with Hornet 2.0. The all-LED headlamp offers good throw, making dark roads easier to read. LED tail lamp visibility is also strong, which adds safety in traffic. Night rides feel less stressful, even on poorly lit city stretches, due to the great LED lighting.

    Easy to turn in traffic

Hornet 2.0 handles traffic well with a 1336mm wheelbase, making tight corners and lane changes easier. Front USD fork and rear mono-shock absorb shocks from uneven roads. The tubeless tyres give extra grip during rainy days. Its digital meter displays speed, gear, and fuel.
