Yamaha R15 V4 Engine

The new a R15 V4 features 155 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. It produces 18.15 bhp of power at 10000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm. And the engine setup comes with a 6-speed gearbox.
The R15 top speed of 140 kmph, giving the rider an exhilarating experience. The bike is powerful with a smooth pick-up, hence perfect for racing on highways.

Yamaha R15 V4 Mileage

One of the notable factors for buyers is the R15 V4 mileage per litre. At 46 kmpl, the bike offers an efficient fuel economy. It can vary based on servicing, road conditions, and riding style.

Also, this sports bike comes with a 11-liter fuel tank. It is ideal for daily commutes but requires frequent refueling for long journeys.

Yamaha R15 V4 Specifications

The weight of this motorcycle is 141 kg, which is not excessively heavy and allows for good handling in city traffic and fast riding. Moreover, comfort is not compromised. It has USD front forks with telescopic adjustment and linked-type monocross suspension.

The seat height of 815 mm is easily accessible to short height riders and offers a comfortable posture while riding. In terms of braking, it has dual-channel ABS disc brakes on both ends.

Yamaha R15 V4 Key Features

This bike has a quick shifter for clutchless upshifts. It increases the riding experience and offers smooth gear shifting. It is beneficial for sports motorcyclists who desire high-speed performance without sacrificing speed.

When downshifting aggressively, the Assist & Slipper Clutch reduces clutch effort and gets rid of rear-wheel hopping. Regardless of RPM levels, the motorbike delivers better power because of VVA technology. This improves fuel economy and throttle responsiveness.

The rider's safety is enhanced by the traction control system. It increases stability by preventing wheel slippage on wet surfaces. Usually seen on high-end motorcycles, this function has been included in this model for added safety.

The Class D bi-functional LED headlight provides better visibility during night rides. It ensures a wide and bright beam, enhancing road safety. Along with LED position lights, the bike looks stylish and offers excellent illumination.

The aluminium swingarm reduces the bike’s unsprung weight. This feature improves handling, making this bike more agile. Riders can experience better cornering ability, especially on highways and twisty roads.

A dual-tone horn that improves attention in traffic is included. The rider can quickly alert cars and pedestrians just because of its dual-horn system.

Since the bike is compatible with E20 fuel, it can run on petrol that is mixed with 20% ethanol. By reducing the carbon effect, this feature makes the bike environmentally friendly and future proof.

The dual-channel ABS improves the effectiveness of braking. More safety is achieved by the technology, especially on slippery roads or while applying strong brakes.

The digital instrument cluster comes with the Y-Connect app, providing smart connectivity features. The riders can view call alerts, SMS messages, phone battery levels, and even parking locations.

Yamaha R15 V4 Expert Opinion

“Yamaha R15 V4 continues to lead the entry-level sportbike segment with its sharp styling and impressive dynamics. The 155cc VVA engine remains refined and responsive, offering a great balance between everyday usability and weekend thrills. Its Deltabox frame and USD front forks deliver confident cornering and stability. While the pillion comfort is limited, the R15 V4 remains a standout option for young riders.”

4/5

The Yamaha R15 has truly earned its spot as one of India’s favourite sports bikes. As someone who has ridden it across city streets and twisty backroads, we can say it’s great for style, performance, and everyday usability.

Yamaha R15 V4 Side View

The new R15 V4 takes things a step further, it looks sharper, feels more refined, and brings useful tech. Now, let’s explore what makes this machine so exciting for both new and seasoned riders.

4.5/5

  • The R15 V4 looks like a mini superbike. It’s inspired by the larger Yamaha R7, which is evident in the sharp lines, sleek fairing, and overall aggressive stance. When we first saw this Yamaha bike in person, it looked way better than in photos.
  • That LED projector headlight in the centre gives it such a mean and modern face. The DRLs on the sides almost look like angry eyes. Overall, the bike has serious street presence.

Yamaha R15 V4 Head light

  • The windscreen is reshaped too, and on open roads, it deflects wind nicely when you tuck in. This makes the ride smoother at higher speeds.
  • We rode the Racing Blue version, and trust us, the matte and gloss dual-tone finish makes it stand out big time. People turn their heads when you stop at a signal.
  • One thing looked a bit off, the exhaust angle doesn’t match the sharp tail. However, it’s not a major concern.

Yamaha R15 V4 Tail light

  • When it comes to fit and finish, there’s a big upgrade from Version 3. Everything on the bike feels tight and solid. There are no loose panels or strange noises while riding.
  • The buttons and switches feel really good. They click nicely and feel strong, not cheap at all.
  • Paint looks great. Even after hours in the sun, it still shines like it’s fresh out of the showroom. You get a ton of features, great design, and Yamaha’s proven quality. It feels like a proper mini-superbike.
  • The R15M variant looks cooler and comes with extras like a silver swingarm, gold callipers, and a better seat finish.

5/5

  • It comes with a new LCD screen that’s extremely clear, even in direct sunlight. You can pair your phone to it via Bluetooth and get SMS, call, and email alerts.
  • There’s a Track Mode on the display that shows your best lap times. This feature is great if you're into track days. We found this pretty cool for a 155cc bike.

Yamaha R15 V4 Display

  • The traction control is now standard, which is honestly impressive at this price point. It adds that extra layer of safety on slippery roads or while braking hard.

Yamaha R15 V4 Indicator

  • Also, the bike comes with a quickshifter that is smooth and works well when you’re riding spiritedly. But keep in mind, it’s only available on select variants.
  • Dual-channel ABS gives peace of mind. Braked hard in a corner, and the bike stayed stable, no skidding at all.
  • The Y-Connect app is handy. We liked checking fuel data and the last parked spot, but we wish it also showed maps.

4/5

  • The 155cc engine of this bike is a gem in the segment. We have ridden a lot of bikes in this segment, and this one stands out with its smooth-as-butter ride.

Yamaha R15 V4 Engine

  • The power output is around 18.15 bhp, and while it’s slightly less than before, you won’t feel the drop. In fact, the torque comes in earlier, which makes it feel quicker off the line.
  • The VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) works like magic. Below 7,000 rpm, the engine is chill. But once VVA kicks in, it really starts pulling. That mid-to-top end surge is so addictive.
  • Gear shifts are clean and precise. Yamaha's six-speed gearbox is smooth, and with the light clutch, riding in traffic is effortless.

4.5/5

  • We were surprised by the mileage. Even when riding hard, it gave us close to 40 kmpl on the highway.
  • During our test rides in city conditions, we got fuel efficiency of anywhere between 35-37 kmpl, which is great for a sporty bike.

Yamaha R15 V4 Fuel Tank

  • The 11-litre tank gives a real-world range of 450 to 500 km, depending on how you ride. That’s more than enough for weekend getaways.

5/5

  • The seat is new and more comfortable than the older version. It’s narrower near the tank, so shorter riders will find it easier to plant their feet.

Yamaha R15 V4 Seat

  • The footpeg position is still sporty, which allows your legs to stay tucked up and lean slightly forward. It feels natural once you get used to it.
  • The handlebars are lower now, but not too low. You still feel sporty without killing your wrists on longer rides.
  • The pillion seat is really small. During our test ride, the pillion rider kept sliding back and had nothing to hold onto. No grab rails either, which makes long rides exhausting for your pillion.

4.5/5

  • It now gets USD forks, which are a big upgrade. You can feel the bike is more stable when cornering or braking hard.

Yamaha R15 V4 Brake

  • The bike feels sharp and loves corners. We rode it through twisty roads, and the feedback from the chassis is just brilliant.
  • The Deltabox frame gives it a solid feel, especially when leaning in, it holds the line like a much bigger bike.

Yamaha R15 V4 Tyre

  • Despite its sporty nature, the suspension isn’t too harsh. It can handle city bumps without making your spine hurt.
  • Handling is precise, and with the new clip-ons and suspension, you can push harder than before.

5/5

  • If you’re a beginner or upgrading from a commuter, this bike is an amazing step up.
  • It’s fast and teaches you good riding habits, especially if you're dreaming of superbikes someday.
  • Just don't expect comfort for long touring, and don’t plan to carry a pillion rider for long.
  • But for city rides, weekend fun, and occasional track days, the R15 V4 is unbeatable in its class.
