Honda Activa 6G

The Honda Activa 6G has quite a legacy to live up to. It’s been India’s go-to scooter for decades, and for many families, “Activa” has become another word for scooter. Now in its 6th generation, the Activa 6G brings in a new OBD-2B engine setup, some tweaks to the design, and better ride quality.

But is it enough? With strong rivals like the TVS Jupiter and Hero Xoom 110, the Activa 6G has to prove it still deserves that top spot. We rode the Activa 6G through city traffic, bumpy roads, and open stretches to test its real-world performance.

• The Activa 6G looks almost the same as before, with just a few small updates like new panels and badges.
• It still has that “smiley face” front headlight in the middle and cheerful-looking indicators on the sides.

• The metal body gives it a tough, reliable feel, which many people still prefer over plastic panels.
• The plastic around the footboard and front could be better. It might not age well on rough roads.

• The Rebel Red colour adds some youthful energy to an otherwise simple-looking scooter.
• The 18-litre underseat storage is just okay. You might fit a half-face helmet, but not much else.

• We tried fitting two grocery bags under the seat, but there’s not enough space.
• There’s a small front cubby, but since it’s open, things might fall out on bumpy roads.

• The base variant keeps it super simple. There’s no digital display, just old-school analogue dials that feel a bit outdated now.

• The top Smart variant gets a 4.2-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth, alerts, and navigation, which are great features, but only on the top trim.

• The silent start system is a nice touch, so there will be no loud cranking when starting up, especially useful in busy areas.
• You get a kill switch that doubles as a starter, plus a pass light for better visibility during night rides.

• The external fuel filler is handy. There’s no need to lift the seat at petrol pumps. But the cap’s lock could’ve been sturdier.
• There’s a USB-C port above the front cubby, which is perfect for charging your phone.

• The seat is soft and feels nice for short to medium city rides. On a recent 45-minute commute, we felt just fine.
• However, if you weigh more than 80kg or ride for over an hour daily, the seat might feel too soft. A stiffer seat foam could solve that.
• The riding posture is upright and comfortable. Even for shorter riders, the handlebars are at a good height.
• For pillion riders, the seat is wide enough but not as spacious as rivals like the TVS Jupiter. If you're riding with a pillion and a bag, it can get a little cramped.

• We noticed that while taking sharp turns, especially U-turns, taller riders (5’10” and above) might find their knees brushing against the handlebars.

• The 109.51cc engine with fuel-injection feels smooth and very refined, especially in stop-go city traffic.

• We rode the Activa through busy city traffic, and it handled slow crawling and quick getaways really well.
• It’s not the fastest scooter out there, but it doesn’t feel sluggish either. The smooth and gentle pickup makes it great for beginners and elders.
• On the highway, it cruises nicely around 65-70 kmph. Push it past 75, though, and the engine starts to feel a bit tired.

• We got about 45-50 kmpl during our rides, which is pretty solid. Didn’t even need to refuel for three full days of city riding.

• The new telescopic front suspension and 12-inch front wheel have really improved how the Activa feels on the road.

• It handles small potholes and rough patches pretty well. We rode through a broken city lane, and the front soaked up the bumps with ease.
• However, the rear suspension still feels stiff. If you hit a speed breaker too fast, you’ll definitely feel a jolt at the back.
• The scooter’s handling is smooth and easy. You can confidently zip through traffic, and even new riders will find it simple to steer.

• The base variant’s steel wheels don’t feel as nice as alloys. Sadly, only the higher trims get the better-looking alloy wheels.
• The drum brakes at both ends do the job, and the combi-brake system helps, but we really missed a front disc brake during sudden stops.

If you want a scooter that’s reliable, fuel-efficient, and easy to ride, the Activa 6G still does a great job. It’s smooth, comfortable, and perfect for everyday use. No wonder it’s been India’s favourite for years.

But rivals like TVS Jupiter offer more features and space. Moreover, the Hero Xoom looks modern, and electric options like the TVS iQube save you a lot on fuel.

So, should you buy the Activa 6G? If you value trust, comfort, and simplicity, it’s still a solid choice. But if you want more tech or a newer look, it’s worth checking out the competition too.
