Royal Enfield continues to expand its 650 lineup, and the Shotgun 650 is now drawing strong attention with its low-slung, custom-inspired motorcycle. This motorcycle is priced between Rs 3.94 lakh and Rs 4.09 lakh. The Shotgun 650 has seen a recent increase of up to Rs 28,000. However, the added design elements and noticeable changes still offer solid value. Let’s know about the 5 things everyone should know about before buying this Royal Enfield bike.
The Shotgun 650 uses the company’s reliable 648cc parallel-twin engine, a setup already appreciated on other RE 650s. It produces 46.39 bhp and 52.3 Nm of torque, which means the bike offers smooth power for both city use and longer weekend rides. In addition, its 6-speed gearbox keeps the bike comfortable on highways, perhaps even making it a better touring companion than some expect from its Bobber-style design.
Even though both models share the same foundation, the Shotgun brings several changes that affect comfort and handling. For example, it uses an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination. This makes the stance sharper compared to the Super Meteor’s 19/16-inch setup.
Moreover, the 13.8-litre fuel tank is slightly smaller, while the 795mm seat height is higher than the Super Meteor’s very low 740mm seat height. These differences give the Shotgun a more upright and flexible feel on the road.
At 240 kilograms, the Shotgun 650 is about 3kg lighter than the Classic 650 twin. For its weight, the motorcycle feels surefooted and confident on open stretches; it's a strong visual presence, too, which many riders like in this category. Further, the bike gets a long Bobber-style look and adds several updates that differentiate it from the Super Meteor 650.
The Shotgun carries a fusion of modern and classic touches. With regards to the lighting setup, the Shotgun boasts LED headlights and taillights, granting better visibility. Still, the indicators carry bulbs to help keep the look more traditional. The blend keeps the design fresh while staying true to character.
In addition, the bike is fitted with the Tripper navigation pod that provides real-time directions to riders without requiring any extra gadgets. This feature adds practical value, especially for daily commuters and frequent travellers.
