Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has patented the design of a new electric scooter in India. This latest move suggests that the company is getting ready to enter the Indian electric two-wheeler market. Earlier, VinFast had announced its plan to launch around three electric scooters in India during the second half of 2026.
The scooter shown in the patent closely resembles the VinFast Viper, which is already available in international markets. However, a few design changes suggest that it could be an updated version for future markets.

The patented scooter shares its overall shape with the VinFast Viper. However, it features a slightly different headlamp design that gives it a fresh appearance. Apart from this change, the scooter retains a clean and modern design that suits everyday city riding.
Perhaps VinFast has made these updates to give the scooter a unique identity before introducing it in India. More details are expected as the launch date gets closer.
Internationally, the VinFast Viper is offered with one-battery and two-battery variants.
The two-battery version comes with a 2x 1.5kWh, delivers a claimed 145 km range, produces 5.2 kW of power, reaches a top speed of 90 kmph, and takes around 9 hours for a full charge.
Meanwhile, the one-battery version uses a 1.5kWh battery, offers a claimed 82 km range, generates 3 kW of power, reaches a top speed of 70 kmph, and requires around 4.5 hours to charge completely.
At present, VinFast has not confirmed which version it will launch in India. However, the company may choose the single-battery model to keep the price more affordable.
When launched, the scooter will compete with popular electric scooters from Ather, Ola Electric, Bajaj Chetak, and TVS iQube. In addition, VinFast will need to build a strong sales and service network across the country to attract Indian buyers.
Overall, the design patent marks another important step in VinFast's plans to enter one of the world's fastest-growing electric two-wheeler markets.
