Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has a cafe racer design with a low front and sculpted fuel tank. Its clip on handlebars and rear set footpegs create a forward leaning riding position. The whole setup of this motorcycle is engaging, but it can feel demanding in heavy traffic.

In addition to this, the engine is smooth, and it can pull strongly without needing constant gear changes. The seat height is also comfortable for average height riders, but shorter riders may find it harder to place both feet down. 

• The motorcycle has a 214 kg Kerb weight, which gives a solid feel at higher speeds, but the weight is noticeable only when making tight U turns. 
• Its 804 mm seat height is good enough to move around the seat & give a good riding position, but shorter riders may need more effort when putting both feet down. 
• The bike has a sculpted fuel tank that gives a classic cafe racer appearance, and its narrow shape also gives the knees a natural place to grip the motorcycle. 
• Continental GT 650 bike gives a classic design through its LED headlamp and indicators, which are even better for visibility during night riding.  

• The rear set footpegs keep the legs tucked back. This works well when riding through corners, although the position feels less relaxed during long city rides.

• This Royal Enfield motorcycle has a 648 cc parallel engine and generates 47.4 PS and 52.3 Nm, which gives this model a smooth pull without needing aggressive throttle input. 

• It also provides a 6 speed gearbox, and I find the higher gears useful when maintaining a steady speed on open roads. 
• Bike mileage, i.e., 27 kmpl, is excellent for a 648 cc twin cylinder model. The 12.5 litre fuel tank gives the bike a useful range, although longer rides still need some fuel planning. 

• This model has a top speed of 170 kmph, which gives enough headroom for fast highway riding, and it is suited to open roads rather than congested city streets at this pace. 

• Continental GT 650 has a 1398 mm wheelbase, which is excellent enough to keep the bike stable at higher speeds. However, it takes a little more effort to make quick direction changes. 
• The 41 mm telescopic front forks keep the front end controlled when braking and cornering. They also handle normal road bumps without making the bike feel unsettled. 
• It also comes with twin gas charged rear shocks, which help the suspension adjust when the riding load changes. 
• This motorcycle has 174 mm ground clearance that can handle regular speed breakers well, but larger ones need to be taken with some care.
• Its 18 inch wheels suit the bike’s road focused setup & the bike feels stable while cornering, but quick direction changes need more input because of its weight.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has a strong engine, and it has enough torque to make acceleration feel effortless. Its low clip on handlebars give the GT 650 a sporty riding position, but it gives more pressure on the wrist specially when you are planning to go touring. The motorcycle’s 214 kg kerb weight is something that needs extra attention. It gives the bike a planted feel at speed, but slow U turns and manual movement require more effort. For me, this Royal Enfield model is perfect on open roads and corners. The bike feels more enjoyable when the road is open.
