KTM has announced a global recall for select 2024 model-year Dukes, including the 125 Duke, 250 Duke, 390 Duke, and 990 Duke. The company explained that routine quality checks showed that some fuel tank cap seals did not meet the brand’s quality standards, which raised concerns about long-term durability. As a result, KTM believes that tiny cracks may appear on certain seals over time, which could lead to fuel leaking or, perhaps, water entering the tank.
In addition, KTM confirmed that all affected customers will receive direct communication. The brand has already begun sending letters advising owners to book an appointment at an authorised KTM service centre, where the faulty seal will be replaced free of cost.
To make the process easier, KTM has allowed riders to confirm their bike’s recall status online. By heading to the ‘service’ section on the official KTM website, owners can enter their motorcycle’s VIN and delivery certificate number to find out whether their bike is included in the campaign.
While the recall includes all four Duke models internationally, the 990 Duke was never launched in India. However, Indian owners of the 250 Duke and 390 Duke should still check their bikes, especially if they purchased them in 2024. Interestingly, the 125 Duke is no longer sold in India, yet it remains available in many global markets and is part of this recall abroad.
Indian service centres have been instructed to guide customers through the process. Riders are encouraged to reach out early since service slots may fill quickly during a global recall.
In other significant industry news, Bajaj Auto has officially completed its long-planned majority acquisition of KTM. The company announced that it received final approval from European authorities for the 800-million-euro deal, bringing the takeover to a close on November 18, 2025.
With this development, the group’s structure has undergone a major shift. Pierer Bajaj AG has been renamed Bajaj Auto International Holdings AG. Meanwhile, PIERER Mobility AG will now operate as Bajaj Mobility AG.
