Hero MotoCorp, the world’s leading motorcycle and scooter maker, has taken a major step toward a smarter mobility future. In Q2 2025, the company began rolling out its next-generation vehicles equipped with Excelfore’s eSync over-the-air (OTA) platform. Today, these connected bikes and scooters are running in more than ten cities across India.
By combining Excelfore’s eSync data pipeline with Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT Core, Hero has built a cloud-based system that supports secure software updates, remote diagnostics, and seamless data monitoring. In addition, this setup helps Hero optimise vehicle performance, resolve issues more quickly, and improve customer experience, all without riders having to visit service centres.
Ram Kuppuswamy, Chief Operating Officer (Manufacturing) at Hero MotoCorp, said, “We are excited to partner with Excelfore to bring state-of-the-art reliability and security through standard-based OTA capabilities to our vehicles. Our OTA success rates are now among the highest in the industry, giving us the agility to continually upgrade vehicle features and optimise reliability for a seamless customer experience.”
The heart of this transformation is the eSync specification, created by the non-profit eSync Alliance. This standard defines a multi-level data pipeline from the cloud to the vehicle’s edge devices. It supports interoperability, scalability, and strong cybersecurity, which are essential as vehicles grow more connected.
Excelfore, a founding member of the alliance, provides the commercial implementation of the full eSync standard. According to Shrinath Acharya, CEO of Excelfore, “It is our privilege to work with the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters to build the digital infrastructure for connected mobility. We look forward to years of joint innovation across products and business models for global markets.”
This rollout marks a key milestone in Hero’s digital-transformation strategy. Firstly, it reduces the need for physical service visits since software bugs or updates can now be handled over the air. Secondly, it gives Hero a standardized way to securely collect and synchronise data, paving the way for future services, data-driven improvements, and newer business models.
