The Hero Xpulse 200 4V is a brilliant option for beginners and women who love adventure riding due to its lightweight design. This bike is available in 2 variants, Pro and Dakar Edition with 4 colour options. It strikes a balance between affordability, functionality, and fun. Also, the balance of capability and value makes it an ideal and reliable off-road companion.

The design of the Xpulse 200 4V closely resembles its predecessor, the 2V model. The rider triangle feels more commuter-like than adventure-focused, which may not appeal to everyone. However, subtle tweaks make a significant impact. The new projector LED headlamp is much brighter and enhances night visibility. Moreover, the DRLs add a modern touch with three modes, including always-on, high-intensity, and the main beam. The sleek tail lamp is another highlight of this adventure bike that looks more premium than its rivals.

We also noticed some redesigned enhancements, such as a windshield, which is now more aerodynamic. Furthermore, the inner rims are now blacked out that prevents rust and adds a rugged look. Quality dual-tone fibre hand fenders complement the updated aesthetics. However, the switchgear feels outdated, which is disappointing for an adventure bike of this calibre.

The seat foam and profile have been updated for better comfort. However, the seat could be wider for longer rides. The handlebar risers and revised footpeg positioning on the Pro variant allow better grip and a comfortable standing position during off-road rides. Moreover, the Pro variant’s tall windshield deflects wind effectively, while its taller stance provides a commanding road presence. 

Hero MotoCorp has worked impressively on the engine of XPulse 200 4V. The company has added two extra valves to the 199.6cc, oil-cooled motor. So, the bike can now deliver 18.91 bhp @ 8,500rpm and 17.35 Nm of torque @ 6,500rpm. It’s a modest but efficient motor, perfect for beginners.

Gear ratios have been revised to improve both city and off-road performance. The first, fourth, and fifth gears are taller, while the second and third are shorter. This adjustment ensures better torque delivery and eliminates constant gear shifts. In city traffic, the bike excels in fourth gear due to a wider torque band. On highways, it’s comfortable cruising at 85-95kmph. Beyond 110kmph, though, the engine feels strained. A sixth gear could have added more refinement to highway rides.

The bike’s performance figures are noteworthy. The Xpulse 200 4V accelerates from 0-60 kmph in 4.46 seconds and 0-100 kmph in 13.28 seconds. Apart from this, the city mileage also sees improvement, with the 4V delivering 40 kmpl of suitable mileage. It also has a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres, which provides a range of 520 Km simultaneously.

The Xpulse 200 4V is incredibly nimble. At 159 kg, it is light for an adventure bike, which makes it easy to handle. Its low seat height adds to its accessibility, even for shorter riders. For off-road enthusiasts, Hero offers a Pro variant with a taller seat and adjustable suspension is a suitable choice. The Rally Kit available enhances performance but increases seat height to 920mm, which might intimidate some riders.

The suspension setup is softer at the start of its travel, providing a planted feel. It absorbs shocks effectively, reducing discomfort on bumpy trails. For hardcore off-roading, the Pro’s adjustable forks with 25 clicks of rebound damping are a game-changer.

On the road, the bike feels stable, but Maxxis knobby tyres (an optional extra) can be tricky on tarmac. They provide excellent grip off-road but compromise road stability and produce a loud droning sound. Riders who mostly commute should stick with the stock tyres for a smoother experience.

Off the beaten path, the Xpulse 200 4V shines. It handles loose gravel, dirt trails, and water crossings effortlessly. The Maxxis tyres ensure phenomenal grip on challenging terrain. Even though the engine lacks punch compared to higher-segment ADVs, it’s forgiving for beginners. Experienced riders might wish for more power, but the calm nature of the engine is a boon for technical trails.

The digital instrument console is feature-packed. It includes Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation via the Hero Connect app, and a USB port for charging devices. The addition of switchable ABS modes further elevates the riding experience. Riders can adjust ABS settings based on terrain, enhancing safety and control.

Hero has also increased the radiator size by 25%, improving engine cooling and reducing heat generation. This makes long rides more comfortable, especially in hot conditions. The bike also boasts a high-mounted exhaust, which prevents water ingress during river crossings or heavy rains.

Hero Xpulse 200 4V is a great adventure bike for the price, perfect for new riders. It is light, easy to handle, and can handle rough paths easily. The Pro version includes extra features like adjustable suspension, a taller windshield, and stronger knuckle guards, making it ideal for serious adventurers for just Rs. 8,000 more. The 2024 model has good upgrades with only a Rs. 3,000 increase in price. The Xpulse 200 4V is great for city roads or tough paths.
