“The Hero Xtreme 160R is an agile commuter bike that really shines in city traffic. The engine has enough power for quick short trips and overtakes. While the pillion seat could be better and the display is basic, it’s still a solid, fun, and budget-friendly choice for urban riders.”

5/5

Hero Xtreme 160R 2V enters a very busy segment where riders have a lot of choices. Its tough rivals include Yamaha FZ, Apache RTR 160 2V, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS160. But the Xtreme 160R manages to stand out by doing something very well: keeping things simple and focused on city riding.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Overview

It doesn’t try to impress you with too much tech or bold styling. Instead, it gives you what you really need for daily riding and an experience that’s enjoyable. Now let’s explore more about the bike to help you get the full information.

4/5

  • The Xtreme 160R looks smart and well-balanced. It doesn’t look too loud or too simple.
  • The tank has a sharp design, and the side panels flow nicely into the tail section.
  • We really liked the LED headlamp. It looks futuristic and gives great visibility in dark streets.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Headlight

  • The taillamp gets a custom-like H-shape LED look, which adds a cool effect from the rear view.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Tail light

  • The paint finish is clean, but only one colour is offered right now, Stealth Black. We wish the company could provide more options.
  • The body panels feel solid and don’t rattle even on broken roads.
  • Meanwhile, the switchgear quality feels slightly basic. Buttons could be softer to use.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Switch

  • The seat feels nicely stitched and well-made, though the pillion section is a bit tight.
  • You get full LED lighting, from headlamp to taillight and indicators.
  • The instrument cluster is fully digital and shows speed, rpm, trips, fuel and even a clock.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Digital Display

  • The 2025 Xtreme 160R 2V features a drag race timer with two modes: D1 and D2, similar to V4 model. The D1 measures 0 to 60 kmph acceleration time, and D2 measures quarter-mile (402m) timing.
  • There’s a handy glide feature that lets the bike crawl at around 8 kmph without throttle input. This feature is very useful in emergencies.
  • There’s no smartphone connectivity or navigation. No USB charging either, which even 125cc bikes like the TVS Raider feature.

4.5/5

  • The bike comes with a 163.2cc air-cooled engine that makes 14.79 bhp of power and 14 Nm torque, which feels enough in city use.
  • What’s really great is how the bike responds when you twist the throttle in traffic. It picks up speed quickly.
  • In city riding, you hardly need to shift gears too much. The engine pulls well even at low RPMs.
  • It’s happiest riding at 70-85 kmph. Beyond 90 kmph, the engine starts to feel a bit strained.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Engine

  • You won’t feel too many vibrations in daily use unless you push it hard.
  • The 5-speed gearbox works perfectly. The gear shifts are clean and easy.
  • The clutch is light, which makes riding in traffic more relaxing. Still, we wish it were even lighter.
  • During our ride, we got around 50-52 kmpl in city traffic, which is impressive.
  • With a 12-litre tank, you can expect a real-world range of over 600 km easily.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Fuel Tank

4/5

  • We rode this bike through narrow lanes, heavy traffic, and open roads and it handled everything with ease.
  • The bike feels very light. You can easily filter through traffic effortlessly.
  • While taking U-turns, the wide handlebar gives good control and don’t feel heavy.
  • Even if you're not a very experienced rider, this bike feels friendly and easy-going.
  • The rider seat height is 790mm, which is comfortable for most average-height riders in India.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Seat

  • The riding position is a nice combo of sporty and relaxed. The handlebar is wide and easy to reach.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Exhaust

  • The footpegs are slightly back-set, but it doesn’t feel tiring. Moreover, for pillions, the rear seat is small and might not be comfortable for longer rides.

5/5

  • The front suspension feels soft and absorbs bumps well.
  • The rear suspension can feel a little firm, especially if you’re riding alone. But you can adjust it.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Suspension

  • On big speed breakers, the rear shock sometimes gives a slight jolt. We suggest reducing preload if you ride solo most of the time.
  • The front disc (276mm) and rear disc (220mm) on the dual disc model work fine for city speeds.
  • The front brake could use more bite, especially at higher speeds. However, combined braking helps keep things stable and safe when braking suddenly.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Brake

  • The Xtreme 160R is one of the lightest bikes in its class, and that shows on the road. It changes direction quickly and handles well in both traffic and twisty roads.
  • Doing cornering at moderate speed is effortless, and the bike doesn’t feel nervous.
  • At higher speeds on highways, it doesn’t feel as stable as some heavier bikes.

4.5/5

The Hero Xtreme 160R 2V focuses on delivering a practical and enjoyable daily riding experience. It may not offer the latest tech or high-end performance, but it excels in simplicity, fuel efficiency, and ease of use.

Hero Xtreme 160R - Rear View

If you want more features and refinement, you may prefer the 4V variant, which costs around 30K more. However, for straightforward, everyday commuting, the 160R 2V remains a reliable and well-rounded choice.
