Hero Xpulse 210: Does Bigger Engine Make It Real Adventure Bike?

Looking for a budget friendly adventure bike that could make your off road riding experience more memorable? Hero Motocorp has introduced a bike that could easily handle rough terrains and is priced under Rs. 2 lakh. The Hero Xpulse 210 price starts at Rs 1.62 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.71 lakh, making itan affordable adventure tourer bike.

If you already know about this bike or have just been introduced to it. This blog will help you understand more about the features and capabilities. We will mainly discuss Hero Xpulse 210's engine, mileage, off road capabilities, and the important things buyers should keep in mind.

What Changed in Hero Xpulse 210?

The biggest change in the Hero Xpulse 210 is its new engine. Hero has replaced the old 200cc unit with a 210cc liquid cooled, four valve engine borrowed from the Karizma XMR. It produces 24.2 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 20.7 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. This gives the bike more power than the previous Xpulse 200 4V.

The engine is paired with a six speed gearbox and a slip assist clutch. This setup helps make gear shifts smoother and improves control on rough roads.

Hero has also updated the chassis and suspension. The front gets telescopic forks with around 210 mm of travel, while the rear uses a linked monoshock with around 202 to 205 mm of travel. These changes help the bike handle broken roads and light off road trails more comfortably.

The bike is now slightly heavier. Its kerb weight has increased from 159 kg to around 168 kg. Riders upgrading from the older model may notice the extra weight, especially on narrow off road tracks.

Hero Xpulse 210 Variants and Mileage

The adventure bike currently comes in two variants. The Dakar Edition is expected to arrive soon with Dakar Rally graphics and more.

Hero XPulse 210 TopRs 1.71 lakh
Hero XPulse 210 Dakar Edition (upcoming)Rs 1.65 lakh (Expected)

The Hero Xpulse 210 costs around Rs 25,000 more than the outgoing Xpulse 200 4V. When it comes to fuel cost, the Xpulse 210 mileage remains close to 37 kmpl. The number is impressive, keeping in mind that it is a dedicated adventure bike.

The Hero bike comes with a 13 litre fuel tank. Based on the claimed mileage, it can cover around 450 to 500 km on a full tank.

Xpulse 210 Specs & Features That Make Daily Riding Easier

Xpulse 210 Features

Hero has added several new features to make the Xpulse 210 more useful for everyday riding.

Some of the important features and specifications of Xpulse 210:

  • 4.2 inch TFT display
  • Bluetooth connectivity & Turn by turn navigation
  • Front and rear disc brakes with dual channel ABS (top variant)
  • Wire spoke wheels with a 21 inch front and 18 inch reartyre, suitable for both road and light off road riding.
  • Telescopic front forks and a gas charged rear monoshock with long travel suspension for improved ride comfort over rough terrain.
  • Full LED headlamp, tail lamp, and indicators
  • Dual channel ABS with Road, Off road, and Rally modes
  • Disc brakes at both ends

The three ABS modes allow riders to choose the right setting for different conditions. Road mode is best for city riding. Off road mode reduces rear ABS intervention for better control on dirt. Rally mode switches off the rear ABS completely for experienced off road riders.

The new TFT screen and navigation also make long rides more convenient without relying on a phone mounted on the handlebar.

Xpulse 210: Does Bigger Engine Make It Better Adventure Bike?

Hero Xpulse 210 Engine

The bigger engine gives the Hero Xpulse 210 better performance than the older model. The extra power and torque make it easier to ride on steep climbs, loose gravel, and muddy trails. The Hero Xpulse 210 is capable of handling both city roads and occasional highway rides.

At the same time, the bike continues to focus on off road riding rather than high speed touring. Riders looking for long highway rides may find its performance limited at higher speeds.

The Hero Xpulse 210 is better suited for riders who use their bike for daily commuting and weekend off road trips.

What Buyers Should Keep In Mind?

The Hero Xpulse 210 is more than just an engine upgrade. It offers better performance, improved suspension, and several new features over the Xpulse 200 4V.

Although buyers have to pay more, the running costs remain almost the same. For riders looking for an affordable adventure motorcycle for city rides and weekend trails, the Xpulse 210 is a stronger package than before.

However, if your priority is long distance highway touring, there are many other options as well. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, Suzuki V Strom SX, and Yezdi Adventure are more preferred for touring purposes. The Xpulse 210 focuses more on adventure riding while offering better everyday usability.
