Ather Scooters Get Voice Command Feature via OTA Update

Ather Energy has completed the rollout of its new voice command feature for eligible scooter owners. The update was first announced during Ather Community Day 2025 under the AtherStack 7 platform. Riders can now control several scooter functions through natural voice commands while riding. Moreover, the feature works with Ather’s Halo helmet and other Bluetooth headsets. The company has also shared plans to introduce two-way communication features in future software updates.

Voice Feature Now Available for Eligible Ather Scooters

Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta confirmed that the Voice on Ather feature has reached all Gen 3 and newer scooters. The update is being delivered through over-the-air software updates across supported models. However, the feature is currently available only on selected variants within the company's electric scooter lineup.

The voice assistant works on the Ather 450X, 450 Apex, and Rizta Z models. However, the company has excluded the 450S and Rizta S from compatibility. Users across the country have already started receiving the update on their scooters.

Riders Can Control Multiple Functions Through Voice Commands

The new system allows riders to interact with their scooters using everyday conversational language. Therefore, users no longer need to depend on fixed commands for different actions.

Riders can request navigation details, check charging locations, and view arrival estimates. Moreover, vehicle settings can also be adjusted through simple spoken instructions. Commands for changing traction control modes and adjusting display brightness are supported.

The feature also handles calls, notifications, and media controls while riding. Hence, riders can access important functions without manually operating the touchscreen frequently.

Works With Halo Helmet and Bluetooth Headsets

Ather has designed the system to function with different audio devices. The feature works with the company's Halo smart helmet and standard Bluetooth headsets.

Therefore, users with third-party communication systems can access the same voice features. Devices from brands offering Bluetooth intercom support can also be connected.

Company Preparing Two-Way Voice Interaction

Ather has also outlined the next phase of development for this technology. In addition, future updates will allow scooters to communicate information directly to riders.

The planned features include pothole alerts, ParkSafe updates, and tyre pressure notifications. Therefore, riders will receive important vehicle information through voice-based communication while travelling.
