Ather 450 Apex is a powerful and stylish electric scooter. It’s faster than the regular 450X and has cool features like Magic Twist, which makes braking easier. The design really stands out with its blue body and orange wheels. It’s great for people who want something unique and fun to ride.
The Ather 450 Apex is the fastest and most powerful scooter Ather has ever made. It’s a special edition to celebrate the brand’s 10-year journey, and it comes with a price tag of Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom). That’s a big jump from the regular 450X. So, what makes it so special? Is it just about looks and speed, or is there more to it? We took it for a spin on the track and the road to find out.
Let’s start with the exciting part, the power. The Apex now makes 7kW of peak power. For the first time, an Ather scooter can touch 100 kmph. The new Warp+ mode is seriously quick. Twist the throttle, and the scooter just flies. It goes from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.9 seconds.
What’s even better is how it keeps pulling at higher speeds. Even at 60- 70 kmph, it doesn’t slow down like other EVs. We rode it on the road and pushed it to its limits. After a few fast laps, there was a small drop in performance. However, it still felt smooth and stable, surpassing most other scooters.
There aren’t many changes here compared to the 450X. During the test rides in Eco mode, the scooter claimed a range of approximately 110 km. In Warp+ mode, we got around 75km. Moreover, the certified range has gone up from 150km to 157km. You can charge the scooty in about 5.45 hours at home, or a quick top-up at an Ather Grid station.
Visually, the 450 Apex is unlike anything Ather has done before. We took a ride on the new Indium Blue paint with a satin finish, which looks stunning under sunlight. The highlight is transparent side panels that reveal the bright orange aluminium frame underneath. It’s a bold choice, and it definitely grabs attention.
The Apex looks bold and futuristic. It really stands out with orange wheels, an exposed chassis, and bright blue bodywork. Ather has also added a fully enclosed belt drive. It looks neat, should last longer, and makes less noise while riding.
The Apex comes with everything included in the 450X Pro Pack, a 7-inch TFT screen, Google Maps, Bluetooth, call and music controls, park assist, hill hold, auto turn indicators, and coasting regen. Additionally, the Apex comes with a colour-matched helmet and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Now, the feature that really blew us away is Magic Twist.
Ather has redesigned the regenerative braking. You simply twist the throttle backwards, and the scooter slows down without needing to use the brakes. You’re basically riding with only your right hand.
At first, it feels a little strange. On the track, we kept reaching for the brakes out of habit. But on the road, especially at city speeds, it feels smooth and natural. Ather says Magic Twist can handle about 75% of your braking. Honestly, we believe it. Just remember, you’ll still need to use the brakes in emergencies or at higher speeds.
Ather scooters have always been renowned for their exceptional handling, and the Apex continues that tradition. It’s light at just 112kg, easy to flick around, and very agile. This electric scooty is great for weaving through traffic or taking sharp corners
The suspension is firm but still comfortable. It helps keep the scooter stable when you push it hard. The brakes feel strong, too. The front brake bites well, and the rear is smooth and gradual. With Magic Twist added in, riding this scooter is a lot of fun.
The Ather 450 Apex is fast, responsive, and interestingly designed relative to its competitors. It also comes with excellent features such as the Magic Twist braking. However, it is pricier than the standard Ather 450X.
