The Indian two-wheeler market saw several important updates and fresh launches in the past week. TVS introduced the much awaited Ntorq 150, while Yamaha updated the R15 range with new colours.
Moreover, Kawasaki rolled out the latest Ninja ZX-6R with a fresh look. In addition, TVS also launched new variants of the Apache series. Perhaps the biggest highlight was the government’s new GST slabs for two-wheelers, which will impact prices across the country.
Several bike makers launched new products, adding more choices for riders across different segments. At the same time, the government announced new GST rates for two-wheelers, which may change prices in the market. Moreover, these updates together shaped the week’s biggest developments, drawing attention from both customers and industry experts.
TVS Motor Company launched the Ntorq 150 in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.19 lakh. The scooter also comes in a top variant priced at Rs. 1.29 lakh, offering extra features.
Moreover, it is powered by a 149.7cc air-cooled engine making 13bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque. In addition to that, the Ntorq 150 includes traction control, Bluetooth connectivity, two ride modes, and adjustable brake levers.
Yamaha refreshed its R15 series with new colours for the R15M, R15 Version 4, and R15S. Prices now stand at Rs. 2.01 lakh, Rs. 1.85 lakh, and Rs. 1.67 lakh respectively.
The R15M now comes in Metallic Grey, while the R15 Version 4 gets Metallic Black, refreshed Racing Blue, and Matte Pearl White. However, there are no mechanical updates, and the changes remain cosmetic.
Kawasaki introduced the 2026 Ninja ZX-6R at Rs. 11.69 lakh, making it Rs. 40,000 costlier than before. The only update is the addition of new graphics in a Lime Green paint scheme, which is the only option available. Moreover, the engine and other specifications remain unchanged compared to the older model.
TVS also updated its Apache RTR 160 4V & 200 4V with new top variants. Priced at Rs. 1.47 lakh and Rs. 1.59 lakh, the bikes feature a new Class-D projector headlamp with LED DRLs.
In addition, they now get a five-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and Voice Assist, along with traction control and a slipper clutch.
The Finance Minister announced revised GST rates that will directly impact bike prices in India. Two-wheelers with engines below 350cc will now attract 18% GST, compared to the earlier 28%.
This cut benefits nearly 98% of the two-wheeler market, covering most mass-market bikes. However, models above 350cc will now attract 40% GST, which the government describes as a sin tax.
