Triumph Speed T4 Expert Opinion

"The Triumph Speed T4 is an entry-level modern classic motorcycle positioned below the Speed 400 in both price and performance. It features conventional telescopic front forks and delivers a highly efficient 32 km/l. While it retains Triumph's premium build quality, it features lower-spec components, resulting in softer braking performance and reduced top-end power. "

4/5

The Triumph Speed T4 is a great choice if you want a premium bike that is easy and relaxing to ride every day. Triumph made this bike specifically for city riders who prefer a stress-free commute over fast racing performance. The bike feels very calm and smooth, making it super friendly for beginners who want a luxury brand without a scary learning curve.

What makes the Speed T4 special is how it sits right between its main rivals. Traditional retro bikes, like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, look great but can feel heavy and a bit slow on the highway. On the other hand, sports bikes can feel too jerky, stiff, and tiring in heavy traffic.

Triumph Speed T4 - Overview

The Speed T4 fixes this problem perfectly. It is much smoother and faster than old-school retro bikes, but it stays far more comfortable and relaxing than a jumpy sports bike. It is simply the perfect, hassle-free luxury bike for your daily office rides.

5/5

  • The accessible 806mm seat height allows shorter riders to plant their feet down confidently during frequent stop-and-go city gridlocks.

Triumph Speed T4 - Seat

  • Upright, swept-back handlebars combine with a neutral riding triangle to keep daily office commutes and weekend road trips completely strain-free.

Triumph Speed T4 - Handlebar

  • Well-positioned mid-set footpegs balance a relaxed commuter posture with steady body control when tilting into unexpected sharp turns.
  • The wide, well-padded single-piece seat offers great under-thigh support to ensure comfortable, fatigue-free highway touring sessions.
  • Premium paint finishes paired with contrast graphics give the motorcycle a rich visual appeal when parked under bright city lights.
  • Sleek 10-spoke cast aluminium alloy wheels enhance the motorcycle’s highway-focused street appearance while handling sharp urban maneuvers.
  • The low and accessible seat height allows shorter riders to easily plant both feet flat on the ground. This takes the stress out of balancing the bike in heavy stop-and-go city traffic.
  • The upright and swept-back handlebars come naturally to your hands. You do not have to lean forward, which keeps your back and wrists completely free of strain during daily commutes.
  • The mid-set footpegs put your lower body in a neutral position. This balances everyday comfort with steady control when leaning the bike into unexpected sharp turns.
  • The wide single-piece seat is deeply padded and offers excellent support under your thighs. This ensures you stay completely free of fatigue whether you are in rush-hour gridlock or out on a weekend highway cruise.

4.5/5

  • The 349cc liquid-cooled engine delivers smooth, vibe-free power delivery, making it highly manageable during low-speed crawling traffic.

Triumph Speed T4 - Engine

  • Generating 29 PS and 31 Nm of torque, the motor provides enough linear acceleration for quick traffic overtakes and steady cruising.
  • smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox allows the rider to click through gears cleanly during spirited open-road acceleration runs.
  • The torque-assist slip clutch lightens lever action significantly, reducing hand fatigue during heavy, stop-and-go rush hour commutes.
  • manual cable-actuated throttle responds predictably to inputs, making the power delivery incredibly easy for beginners to meter safely.
  • Clever low-end engine tuning pulls the bike cleanly away from slow speeds without forcing constant, annoying downshifts.
  • The efficient 30 kmpl mileage keeps fuel bills low, making the motorcycle highly practical for regular everyday usage.
  • Increased crankshaft inertia keeps cruising at 100 km/h feeling calm and composed by dampening harsh engine vibrations beautifully.
  • 135 kmph top speed ensures the bike maintains sufficient performance margins for standard Indian highway riding conditions.

4/5

  • Conventional 43mm telescopic front forks absorb sharp road joints smoothly during everyday city commuting duties.
  • The adjustable rear gas monoshock keeps the chassis settled and tracking straight when riding over broken, uneven tarmac surfaces.
  • Light 17-inch alloy wheels improve steering agility, allowing the rider to flick past potholes and tight road obstacles easily.
  • The hybrid spine perimeter tubular steel frame ensures cornering feels neutral and stable when tackling winding flyovers.
  • Light steering responses help riders maneuver the 180 kg wet weight through gridlocked traffic lanes without extra physical effort.
  • Comfort-oriented suspension tuning glides over unexpected speed breakers and bumps without transmitting harsh jolts to the rider's spine.
  • A mild suspension bounce appears when carrying a pillion over deep highway undulations at higher speeds.
  • Street-biased tubeless tyres offer dependable cornering grip and straight-line tracking stability during wet weather road conditions.

Triumph Speed T4 - Tyre

  • The 300mm front disc brake provides progressive, predictable stopping power during regular everyday city riding.
  • slightly wooden lever feedback means the rider must apply a firmer pull during sudden, unexpected emergency braking situations.
  • Standard dual-channel ABS cuts in cleanly to prevent wheel lockups when dropping anchor on greasy, wet, or loose road surfaces.

4/5

  • The semi-digital instrument cluster positions key data clearly, making it easy to read at a glance under harsh mid-day sunlight.
  • prominent analogue speedometer gives the dashboard a timeless look that appeals directly to classic motorcycle purists.
  • An integrated digital LCD screen keeps track of your gear position, fuel level, odometer, and dual trip meters dynamically.
  • Full LED lighting paired with clean DRLs improves night visibility significantly when navigating poorly lit suburban backroads.

Triumph Speed T4 - Headlight

  • The absence of traction control rarely upsets the chassis, as the bike's linear power delivery keeps the rear tire planted under acceleration.
  • A permanent dual-channel ABS setup adds an essential safety net when navigating unpredictable Indian traffic conditions daily.
  • The lack of Bluetooth or smartphone connectivity makes checking route directions difficult for riders who rely on turn-by-turn navigation data.
  • A manual cable throttle instead of a ride-by-wire setup serves as a logical cost-saving measure to keep the bike's purchase price accessible.

4/5

The Triumph Speed T4 is a great choice if you want a premium bike that is easy and relaxing to ride. By focusing on smooth, low-speed power rather than fast racing performance, it handles heavy city traffic perfectly. While it misses out on some expensive features, everyday riders will love its great mileage, simple maintenance, and affordable price.

\Adding to its premium appeal, the Triumph Speed T4 comes in 5 official colors: Baja Orange, Caspian Blue / Pearl Metallic White, Lava Red Gloss / Pearl Metallic White, Phantom Black / Pearl Metallic White, and Phantom Black / Storm Grey. This wide range of options ensures that you can find a style that fits your personality perfectly, making this easy-going roadster an even more attractive package for daily commuters.

Six Speed Gearbox Adds More Flexibility

The 6 speed gearbox gives the Speed T4 a more flexible riding character. Shifting through the gears feels natural as the speed increases. I find the extra ratio useful when moving onto open roads. The 13 L fuel tank also suits longer rides without making fuel stops too frequent. It feels like a sensible combination for riders who use their bike across different routes. For me, the Speed T4 feels equally at home during daily rides and occasional highway trips.

I Reached Early, So I Stayed Longer!

The 130 km/h top speed helped me reach my destination much earlier than expected. Instead of heading back right away, I parked the bike, ordered a cup of tea, and enjoyed the quiet morning for a while. Before leaving, I noticed my phone had almost fully charged using the USB C charging port during the ride. I came for a short trip, but I stayed because there was no reason to hurry back. Sometimes, the best part of the journey is the extra time it gives you.

    Smooth and Easy Urban Roadster

The Triumph Speed T4 has been a brilliant companion for my daily office runs and occasional highway sprints. I am highly impressed by the 30 kmpl mileage, which makes running a premium bike incredibly friendly on my wallet. The multi function LCD screen is clear and packed with useful information. Its clean roadster design looks very premium, and the upright riding posture keeps me completely fatigue free.
