KTM has showcased updates to the 390 Adventure R at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy, ahead of its 2027 model year. The biggest change is the removal of standard cruise control, which will become an optional add on.
This update could affect buyers planning long distance highway rides. However, KTM has not confirmed whether the India spec 390 Adventure R will receive the same change.
The 2027 KTM 390 Adventure R gets updated switchgear to accommodate the optional cruise control system. Currently, cruise control is part of its equipment package. However, KTM has not confirmed how long it will remain standard.
The company has not announced the updated model's pricing or launch timeline. It also remains unclear whether the change will reach the Indian market.
For buyers, this could mean an additional expense if they want cruise control. However, KTM has not revealed the optional feature's pricing yet.

The KTM 390 Adventure R continues with its 399cc, liquid cooled LC4C engine. It produces 45bhp and 39Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a six speed gearbox and slip and assist clutch.
Here are the key mechanical highlights:
The KTM bike uses a two piece lightweight trellis frame. Its fully adjustable suspension offers 230mm of travel at both ends.
The 21/17 inch wheel combination targets rough terrain and off road riding. It also gets increased ground clearance compared to the KTM 390 Adventure S.
Unlike the Adventure S, the R uses spoked wheels with tube type tyres. This setup highlights its focus on more demanding off road conditions.
The KTM 390 Adventure R gets a six axis IMU and ride by wire throttle. Its electronic package includes multiple ride modes and switchable lean sensitive traction control.
Other features include cornering ABS and KTM's bi directional Quickshifter+. It also gets a 5 inch full colour TFT display with map navigation and smartphone connectivity.
Dedicated off road riding modes are also available. These features help riders manage different road and terrain conditions.
The current KTM 390 Adventure R costs Rs. 3.86 lakh (ex showroom). The company has not announced 2027 model pricing or an India launch timeline.
The upcoming model will compete in the adventure motorcycle segment against options such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and BMW G 310 GS (discontinued). However, KTM's India specific updates remain unconfirmed.
