Royal Enfield is preparing a major expansion with a new manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh. The company plans to invest nearly Rs. 2,200 crore into the upcoming project. This development becomes an important milestone for Royal Enfield. Interestingly, this will be the brand’s first manufacturing expansion outside Tamil Nadu since 1955.
The upcoming factory will come up in the Satyavedu region of Tirupati district. Moreover, the project covers around 276 acres across Vanelluru and Rallakuppam villages. The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board recently approved the project. In addition, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired the meeting that cleared the proposal.
Royal Enfield plans to complete the expansion project in two phases. The first phase includes a dedicated vendor park near the main facility. According to reports, the company targets completion of the first phase by 2029. However, the second phase may become operational by 2032.
Once completed, the plant will increase annual production capacity by nearly 9 lakh motorcycles. Currently, Royal Enfield already produces close to 15 lakh motorcycles every year.
Perhaps, the company expects stronger domestic and global demand in coming years. Models like the Classic 350, Hunter 350, and Himalayan continue attracting buyers across different markets.
In addition, Royal Enfield has expanded rapidly in international markets recently. The company now sells motorcycles in Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
The Andhra Pradesh government sees this investment as a major industrial opportunity. The new facility may create nearly 5,000 direct and indirect jobs after completion. This includes factory staff, suppliers, logistics workers, and service partners. Therefore, the project could support economic growth in the Tirupati region.
Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh confirmed the investment details recently. He also said the state wants to build a stronger automobile manufacturing ecosystem. The expansion highlights Royal Enfield’s confidence in India’s growing premium motorcycle market. Moreover, the company appears focused on long-term production and business growth.
