Ducati has introduced the updated DesertX and DesertX Rally at EICMA 2026. The latest DesertX Rally brings major changes to its engine, chassis, and suspension. Moreover, Ducati has updated its styling and added new riding modes for off road use. The company plans to bring the updated motorcycle to global markets in 2027.

The biggest update comes from the new 890cc, 90 degree V2 engine. Ducati has moved away from its older Testastretta L Twin platform. The new engine produces 110bhp and 92Nm of torque in the DesertX Rally.
The standard DesertX had already received this new engine platform. However, the Rally version now joins the lineup with the same V2 engine family. This change brings the latest powertrain technology to Ducati's off road focused motorcycle.
Ducati has replaced the older trellis frame with an aluminium monocoque frame. The engine also works as a stressed member of this new structure.
The suspension setup also gets important changes. The motorcycle retains a 48mm Kayaba upside-down front fork with 250mm of travel. However, the rear Kayaba monoshock now uses a fully floating setup with two linkages. Ducati says this arrangement improves comfort and control. The rear suspension continues to offer 220mm of travel. Both suspension units also offer full adjustment.
Furthermore, Ducati has added new Takasago cross spoke wheels. These measure 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear.

The updated DesertX Rally retains Ducati's standard rider electronics package. It also gets a 5 inch colour TFT instrument display. The biggest electronics update comes from two new riding modes: Enduro and Rally. These modes support off road riding and join the existing Touring, Urban, Sport and Wet modes. The four existing modes focus on road riding conditions.
