Yamaha has entered the electric scooter market in India with the launch of the EC-06. This is the company’s first electric two-wheeler for the Indian market. The scooter is priced at Rs 1,67,600 (ex-showroom). Sales will start in selected cities and the EC-06 will be sold only through Yamaha’s Blue Square showrooms.
At launch, the scooter is available in a single colour option called Bluish White. Yamaha says the EC-06 has been developed in India and is aimed for a practical and clean mobility option.

The Yamaha EC-06 is equipped with an IPMSM electric motor paired with a fixed 4 kWh battery pack. This setup produces 6.7 kW of peak power and 26 Nm of torque. The scooter has a top speed of 79 kmph, which is suitable for city roads and urban traffic.
On a full charge, the EC-06 offers a certified range of 169 km. Moreover, charging can be done using a regular home socket and a full charge takes around eight hours. Yamaha is offering a battery warranty of 3 years or 30,000 km, which should help new EV buyers feel more confident.
To suit different riding conditions, Yamaha has given the EC-06 three riding modes: Eco, Standard and Power. There is also a Reverse Mode, which makes it easier to move the scooter in tight parking spaces.
The electric scooter uses telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring suspension. Furthermore, the scooter gets 200 mm disc brakes at the front and rear, along with a Combi Brake System for better control.
The EC-06 comes with a colour LCD display that shows speed, battery level, range and riding modes. It also supports smartphone connectivity through the Yamaha Motor Connect R app. All lights on the scooter are LED units.
For daily use, Yamaha has provided 24.5 litres of under-seat storage. The motor and battery are IP67 rated, while other electronic parts are IP65 rated. This helps the scooter handle rain, water splashes and dusty roads.
