KTM India has once again made headlines this week, as the company increased the prices of the KTM 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X. The hike comes soon after the impact of GST 2.0, and it also ends Bajaj Auto’s short-term decision to absorb the extra tax on 400cc motorcycles.
The updated prices clearly show the change customers hoped wouldn’t arrive so soon. The KTM 390 Adventure now costs Rs 3,94,699, while the 390 Adventure X carries a price tag of Rs 3,26,178. Earlier, the bikes were priced at Rs 3,67,700 and Rs 3,03,768 respectively.
Interestingly, these new prices sit close to the earlier estimates that surfaced before Bajaj agreed to handle the GST increase. This shows that the current hike mainly comes from the GST reform rather than any changes to the motorcycles themselves.
The jump in price may disappoint many riders. However, the 390 Adventure lineup still delivers strong value. The standard model offers strong power, great touring comfort, and solid off-road ability. In addition, it packs features like tubeless spoked wheels, a quickshifter, cruise control, cornering ABS, traction control, and multiple ride modes.
Perhaps the 390 Adventure X appeals even more after KTM updated it recently. It now includes key electronic aids such as cruise control and ride modes, which make it a flexible choice for riders.
Earlier, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 saw a price rise when GST 2.0 came into effect. KTM’s decision to absorb the tax at that time made the 390 Adventure X cheaper than the top Himalayan variant. However, the situation has now changed. The cheaper KTM variant now costs more than the Himalayan’s top-end Hanle Black trim by about Rs 6,496.
This shift may affect KTM’s sales in the coming weeks, especially because buyers in this segment look for strong value.
