India’s electric two-wheeler market showed strong growth in May 2026. According to the latest data, total retail sales reached 1,70,733 units, which is a 62.76% increase compared to May 2025. In addition, sales also grew 14.79% month-on-month from April 2026 numbers.
This steady rise shows that customer interest in electric scooters continues to grow across the country. Moreover, better product options and wider availability have helped brands improve their sales performance.
Electric two-wheeler sales stood at 1,70,733 units in May 2026. This is higher than 1,48,740 units recorded in April 2026.
Perhaps this growth comes from improved demand after April’s slower period. Usually, April sees softer sales due to the new financial year. However, May brings back momentum as buyers return to the market.
At the same time, yearly growth remains strong. Sales in May 2025 stood at 1,04,896 units, which clearly shows how fast the EV segment is expanding.

TVS recorded 42,459 units in May 2026. This marks a 64.54% YoY growth and a 12.67% MoM increase. The increase in numbers was recorded with the help of some popular models like iQube and Orbiter.
Similarly, Bajaj Auto sold 39,202 units, showing a 73.14% yearly growth. In addition, the brand also posted a 19.16% monthly rise, which highlights strong demand.
Ather Energy reported 28,240 units, with a 100.27% YoY growth. However, its monthly growth stood at a smaller 4.46%.
On the other hand, Hero Vida saw one of the highest increases. The brand sold 19,067 units, marking a 158.19% yearly growth and a 25.13% rise over April.
Ola Electric sold 15,141 units in May 2026. While the company showed a 24.40% MoM growth, its yearly sales dropped by 20.17% compared to last year.
This shows that competition in the EV space continues to affect its overall performance.
Ampere recorded 7,695 units, with a 77.92% YoY growth. Similarly, River EV posted strong numbers with 3,720 units, showing a massive 245.08% increase from last year. Some of the most selling models are Magnus Neo and Nexus.
BGauss also performed well, with 3,297 units and a 204.71% yearly growth.
In addition, the “Others” category contributed 11,912 units, growing 25.23% YoY.
The electric scooter & electric bike market grew 14.79% in May compared to April 2026, showing recovery after a slower start to the financial year.
However, such trends are quite common. April usually sees lower demand, while May and the following months bring better sales numbers.
Therefore, the overall growth in May highlights stable demand and increasing adoption of electric two-wheelers.
