Yamaha has refreshed the MT-125 for 2027 in global markets with a new design inspired by the larger MT-07 and MT-09. The 125cc naked bike gets redesigned body panels, a sharper front end and a new colour option. However, Yamaha has kept its engine and other key mechanical parts unchanged.

The 2027 Yamaha MT-125 now has a leaner profile with a redesigned seat, a newly shaped fuel tank and updated side panels. These panels feature textured surfaces, a smoked transparent finish and visible MT branding. In addition, Yamaha has reshaped the fuel tank to support different riding positions, whether riders sit upright in traffic or lean forward on winding roads.
The front section now features blade-style LED position lights and revised indicators. A smoked transparent front mask with a frosted MT-125 logo adds to its fresh appearance.
Yamaha has also introduced a new Redline White colour with contrasting graphics and a two-tone seat. It joins the existing Ice Storm, Icon Blue and Tech Black options.
The MT-125 continues to use a 125cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). It produces 14.5bhp at 10,000rpm and 11.5Nm at 8,000rpm. VVA uses two intake cam profiles to support engine response at lower revs and improve airflow at higher revs. Yamaha follows a similar approach with the 155cc VVA engine in the Indian MT-15.
The motorcycle also retains its Deltabox style frame, aluminium swingarm and assist and slipper clutch. In addition, it gets 41mm upside-down front forks with 130mm of travel and standard traction control.
Its five inch colour TFT offers three display themes and smartphone connectivity through Yamaha's MyRide app. Riders can access turn-by-turn navigation and view call, message and music information.
There are some areas where the European MT-125 specification is actually more premium than our MT-15. Its 41mm USD fork is larger than the 37mm unit used on the MT-15, while its 292mm front disc is also bigger than the Indian bike’s 282mm unit. The radial-mounted front caliper is another difference.
