Triumph has updated its popular 400 range in India with new 350cc engines across multiple models. The update covers the Scrambler 400 X, Scrambler 400 XC, Speed 400, & Speed T4 motorcycles. In addition the prices have been revised slightly, while engine output figures have reduced. However, the design & cycle parts remain unchanged. Bookings for the updated models have started, & deliveries are expected to begin soon across India.
The new Triumph motorcycles have already begun booking in dealerships within India. Therefore, the interested buyers will be able to make orders via the authorised outlets or via online platforms. Soon, deliveries should start, according to the availability of stocks in various areas.

Triumph has introduced a new 350cc engine across its 400 range to meet revised tax rules. Therefore, these motorcycles now fall under the 18 percent GST slab instead of the higher tax bracket. This change has helped in reducing the prices slightly for some models.
The Scrambler 400 X is now priced at Rs. 2.69 lakh, while the Scrambler 400 XC costs Rs. 2.89 lakh. These prices are ex-showroom Delhi & are around Rs. 10,000 lower than earlier versions. However, the company continues with the 400 badging instead of switching to 350 naming.
The new 350cc engine generates lower output figures compared to the earlier 400cc unit. The updated motor produces 36.49bhp at 8,500rpm & 32Nm at 7,000rpm. In comparison, the previous engine offered higher power and torque at lower rpm levels.
Moreover, the revised engine now needs higher revs to reach peak performance figures. This change may affect initial acceleration, especially in city riding conditions. However, the overall riding setup remains the same across both Scrambler models.

Triumph has also updated the Speed 400 and Speed T4 with the same downsized engine setup. The Speed 400 is now priced at Rs. 2.32 lakh, making it slightly lower than before. Meanwhile, the Speed T4 continues at Rs. 1.95 lakh without any change in pricing.
The Speed 400 now produces 36.4bhp & 32Nm, which is lower than earlier figures. Similarly, the Speed T4 delivers 28.6bhp and 31Nm after the update. Therefore, both motorcycles show a drop in performance numbers compared to earlier versions.
Besides the engine update, both the Speed models share the same hardware components. The Speed 400 has inverted front fork and rear monoshock suspension. Moreover, it is powered using 17 inch alloy wheels with disc brakes at both ends.
The Speed T4 uses a telescopic front fork instead of an inverted unit. Moreover, braking duties remain the same with dual channel ABS as standard. Hence, the overall design and mechanical setup remain unchanged after the engine revision.
