
India's scooter market recorded strong growth in May 2026. The top 10 scooters together sold 6,41,680 units during the month. This marks a growth of 23.06% compared to 5,21,433 units sold in May 2025. As a result, the segment added more than 1.2 lakh units year-on-year.
Honda Activa continued to hold the top position, while TVS Jupiter remained firmly in second place. In addition, electric scooters such as the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak delivered impressive growth, showing the increasing demand for EVs in India.
Honda Activa remained the country's best-selling scooter in May 2026. The scooter recorded sales of 2,28,955 units, which is 20.05% higher than the 1,90,713 units sold during the same month last year.
Meanwhile, TVS Jupiter secured the second position with sales of 1,24,767 units. The scooter posted a healthy growth of 27.83% compared to 97,606 units sold in May 2025.
Together, Activa and Jupiter accounted for more than 55% of the total sales generated by the top 10 scooters. Therefore, both models continue to dominate the Indian scooter market.

Suzuki Access retained its third position with sales of 75,729 units. However, the scooter witnessed a slight decline of 0.06% compared to last year.
On the other hand, TVS iQube emerged as one of the fastest-growing scooters in the list. The electric scooter registered sales of 42,192 units, reflecting a growth of 52.64%. In addition, Bajaj Chetak sold 38,376 units and recorded a strong 50.26% increase.
TVS Ntorq also performed well during the month. The sporty scooter sold 34,127 units and posted a growth of 35.40%.
Hero Destini 125 became one of the standout performers in May 2026. The scooter recorded sales of 26,482 units, showing an impressive growth of 76.34%.
Meanwhile, the Suzuki Burgman Street registered sales of 25,835 units and posted a modest growth of 4.65%.
However, the Honda Dio experienced a decline in sales. The scooter sold 23,814 units, which is 9.18% lower than the same month last year.
Yamaha RayZR rounded out the top 10 list with sales of 21,403 units. The scooter posted a strong growth of 64.35%, highlighting its growing popularity among buyers.
Electric scooters continued to gain momentum in May 2026. The top five electric scooters collectively sold 1,36,639 units, registering a growth of 48.45% compared to last year.
TVS iQube remained the leader in the electric scooter segment, while Bajaj Chetak followed closely behind. In addition, Ather Rizta and Hero Vida posted remarkable growth figures. However, Ola Electric reported a decline in sales during the month.
With strong performances from both petrol and electric scooters, the Indian scooter market continues to show healthy growth across different segments.
