Triumph Motorcycles revealed the new Triumph Tiger 1200 in India on October 27, 2026, with major updates to performance, comfort and rider technology.
The adventure motorcycle gets a more powerful 1,160cc engine, revised suspension and new radar based safety features. It also introduces automatic seat lowering to improve confidence during stops. The updated range is expected to reach Indian showrooms from March 2027, with prices to be announced closer to bookings.
The updated Triumph Tiger 1200 uses a 1,160cc, liquid cooled, three cylinder engine. It produces 158 PS at 9,250 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.
This is an increase of 8 PS over the outgoing version. Triumph has revised the engine, fuel injection, gearbox and shaft drive to improve low speed response and refinement.
The six speed gearbox gets Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Revised lower gear ratios also reduce crawl speed by 6 km/h, helping riders manage tight turns and slow moving traffic.
Both Indian variants receive 19 inch front and 17 inch rear wheels. They also get 200mm of suspension travel at both ends and semi active SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX suspension.
The GT Pro uses cast aluminium wheels for road focused riding. The Rally Explorer gets spoked wheels and additional off road equipment.

One of the biggest changes is the SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX system. It automatically lowers the seat by 30mm when the motorcycle stops, then restores ride height as it moves off.
The two position seat adjustment provides another 20mm of adjustment. A low seat accessory can reduce the effective seat height further, reaching 790mm at a standstill.
This could help shorter riders manage the large adventure motorcycle at traffic lights and while parking. The system also includes Centre Stand Assist, which reduces the effort needed to lift the bike onto its centre stand.
Triumph has added front and rear Bosch radar to support several rider assistance features, including:
These systems can warn riders about nearby vehicles and help manage following distances. However, they do not replace careful riding or the need to maintain safe gaps.
The new Triumph bike gets a 7 inch HD touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A cooled phone compartment with USB C charging is also included.
The adaptive LED projector headlight adds cornering illumination, while revised bodywork gives the motorcycle a sharper appearance. Heated rider and pillion seats, along with three stage heated grips, remain standard across the range.
The GT Pro retains a 20 litre fuel tank, while the Rally Explorer gets a larger 30 litre tank. Both models also feature shaft drive, reducing routine chain cleaning and adjustment.
Triumph lists a 16,000km service interval, or 12 months, whichever comes first. The listed wet weights are 250kg for the GT Pro and 268kg for the Rally Explorer.
Chief Product Officer for Triumph Motorcycles, Steve Sargent, said: “This is a real step change for the Tiger 1200. It’s more powerful, more accessible and more advanced, but most importantly, it’s brilliant fun to ride. Our customers are asking for top tier technology, but they want it to be intuitive and unobtrusive, so that’s exactly what we’ve set out to deliver.
“We’ve worked with the best technology partners in the business to get this right. We’re the first manufacturer to fully implement SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX®, and one of the first to validate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto specifically for motorcycle use. Our engineers have worked closely with Bosch to develop the radar technology specifically for Triumph motorcycles and to enhance the riding experience. We’ve also made big changes to the chassis and refined the engine, and customers will really feel the difference when they ride the bike.”
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will be offered in India in two variants:
Triumph expects the updated motorcycles to arrive in India from March 2027. Prices will be announced closer to the start of bookings.
The Tiger 1200 competes in the premium adventure touring segment. Its alternatives include the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure and Ducati Multistrada V4.
For buyers, the key questions will be pricing, the cost of radar equipped technology and the added value of automatic seat lowering. The updated Tiger 1200 offers more assistance and touring equipment, but its final price will determine how competitive it becomes.
