BMW in North America has recalled the BMW R 1250 RT and BMW K 1600 GT & GTL bikes due to a safety concern with the front suspension strut. BMW Motorrad has initiated the recall in the US to address the issue and ensure rider safety. Owners of the affected motorcycles are advised to contact their nearest BMW dealership for inspection and necessary repairs.

For your reference, the BMW R 1250 RT Here price in India starts at Rs. 24.95 Lakh, while the K 1600 price starts at Rs. 33.00 Lakh.

What Are the Issues & Why is it Concerning?

Some BMW R 1250 RT & K 1600s motorcycles are experiencing a safety concern involving their spring struts' Electronic Suspension Adjustment. The damper's proportional valve may have been fabricated from the material, which could lead to it loosening over time and affecting the damping function. This issue might impact the bike's stability on roads and at higher speeds.

BMW has identified the group of bikes affected by this problem and has taken steps to implement a voluntary safety recall. Owners will be notified through letters by April 22 2024, advising them to visit dealerships for inspections and necessary repairs. While BMW has not received any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this issue. Still, the brand is taking measures to address it and ensure rider safety.

Owners are advised to stay alert for recall notifications and promptly reach out to their BMW dealership for evaluations and corrective measures. This proactive approach aims to resolve the problem before any potential incidents occur. Currently, BMW Motorrad India has not issued a recall regarding this matter; however, the owners should remain informed about any developments or updates.
