The TVS Raider 125, launched in India on September 16, 2021, has now completed four successful years. This bike was TVS Motor Company’s first entry into the sporty 125cc commuter segment. The timing was perfect as the segment was gaining strong demand in India.
From its launch till the end of August 2025, the Raider 125 sold more than 1.6 million units. Out of this, 1.35 million were sold in India and over 245,000 were exported. In fact, the Raider alone made up 39% of TVS Motor’s total motorcycle sales of 3.52 million units during this period.
The Raider’s monthly sales began at an average of 12,190 units in FY2022. Later, sales grew quickly, crossing 239,000 units in FY2023. By FY2024, the Raider 125 became TVS Motor’s best-selling motorcycle with 478,443 units, beating even the popular Apache series.
However, demand has slowed down recently. In FY2025, sales dropped to 399,819 units, which was 16% lower than the previous year. In the first five months of FY2026, sales stood at 130,421 units, still 9% lower than the same period last year.
The 125cc commuter segment is crowded with strong rivals like the Hero Glamour, Super Splendor, Xtreme 125, Bajaj Pulsar, and Honda Shine. The Honda Shine leads the market with over 571,000 units sold between April and July 2025. In addition, the Bajaj Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle, has also entered this competitive space.
While domestic sales have slowed, exports remain a strong area for the Raider. By August 2025, over 245,000 units had been shipped overseas. FY2025 was the best year yet for exports, with 71,341 units, showing a 31% rise. Moreover, in just the first five months of FY2026, about 37,000 units were exported, which suggests this fiscal year could set a new record.
The Raider 125 is available in six variants, with prices ranging from Rs 87,993 to Rs 1,03,515 (ex-showroom). It was also India’s first commuter bike to feature a TFT console. Other features include daytime running lights, split seat, pillion grabrail, and digital tripmeter. Its sharp design with a muscular tank and sporty headlamp makes it stand out from rivals.
The Raider has a 124.8cc engine that produces 11.2 bhp and 11.2 Nm of torque. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox. According to TVS, the bike can accelerate from 0–60 kmph in just 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 99 kmph. Moreover, the fuel efficiency is claimed to be 56.7 mpl, which makes it both fun and practical for daily rides.
Apart from this, the Raider 125’s price is now more attractive with GST 2.0 reducing taxes on two-wheelers to 18% from 28%. This could give sales a boost in the coming months.
