Rajnath Singh Flags Off Shaurya Vijay Yatra with Riders on Jawa and Yezdi Motorcycles

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on 14 July 2026, flagged off the Shaurya Vijay Yatra from the National War Memorial in New Delhi as part of the nationwide observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026. The 13-day motorcycle expedition will cover around 1,900 km and conclude at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Ladakh, on July 26.

Held under the theme 'One Ride, One Nation, One Salute', the expedition includes 28 riders comprising serving and retired defence personnel. It also includes the family members of soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. The riders are travelling on Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles to pay tribute to the soldiers who fought in the conflict.

Ride to Pass Through key war Memorials

During the journey, the riders will visit the Chandimandir, Rezang La and Leh War Memorials before reaching Dras. They will also carry sacred soil from the National War Memorial to the Kargil War Memorial as a symbolic gesture linking the memory of soldiers across generations.

The group is also scheduled to meet and felicitate Veer Naris in recognition of their resilience and sacrifice.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff General N. S. Raja Subramani, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, senior military officers, veterans, and invited guests. Moreover, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets were present at the event.

Rajnath Singh pays Tribute to Kargil war Heroes

Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the soldiers who fought in the Kargil War, describing the victory as a symbol of India's determination to defend its sovereignty. He also remembered Param Vir Chakra awardees Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd), and Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Sanjay Kumar (Retd) for their bravery during the conflict.

The Shaurya Vijay Yatra was started in 2021 by Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles to commemorate the Kargil War and honour the Armed Forces. This year's expedition is being undertaken on Jawa 350, Jawa 42, Jawa 42 FJ, Yezdi Adventure, and Yezdi Scrambler motorcycles.

The Shaurya Vijay Yatra 2026 expedition is intended to honour the sacrifices of soldiers who served the nation during the Kargil War and other military operations.
