The week brought good news about motorcycles from major brands like TVS, Hero, Honda, and Kawasaki. While some manufacturers were engaged in updating their existing commuter motorcycles, others introduced powerful motorcycles aimed at performance buyers. Generally, such news points towards the direction in which the Indian two-wheeler sector is moving in terms of technology, safety, and design innovation.

TVS made the headlines with two major developments. TVS launched the new TVS XL100 Heavy Duty Alloy variant at Rs. 59,800 (ex-showroom). The new version now comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. The update not only makes it look better but also easier and more reliable to repair punctures. It is a thoughtful step by TVS in the direction of merging functionality with convenience on its top-selling utility bike.

At the same time, TVS is set to introduce the 2025 Raider 125 with a few significant upgrades. The new motorcycle will be fitted with a rear disc brake and an anti-lock braking system, single-channel, thus making it one of the safest motorcycles in the 125cc class. Apart from this, the company is set to introduce a new paint scheme that will make the Raider appear sportier. This latest update reflects the priority of TVS towards improving safety as well as fashion in its commuter motorcycles.

Hero MotoCorp also featured on the list of launches with the 2026 Xtreme 125R at a dealer event. The new hero motorcycle revealed in an aggressive red and black colour theme with sleek graphics and refreshed design. It boasts a dual-tone fuel tank with a prominent 'Xtreme' logo, bar end mirrors, and nearly raised handlebar for a comfortable seating position.
The biggest highlight is the addition of a colour LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn GPS navigation, and even cruise control. These added features clearly indicate that Hero wishes to attract younger buyers who love to have the latest technology on their daily ride. With this update, the Xtreme 125R seems set to take on the upcoming TVS Raider 125.

Honda shocked everyone when it announced two new overseas models the CB500SF and CBR500R Four. Both motorbikes are powered by an all-new 502cc, liquid-cooled engine that is expected to produce around 80 bhp. The CB500SF draws its inspiration from the legendary CB400SF, with a combination of modern and retro styling. It has a muscular presence with streetfighter character.
On the other hand, the CBR500R Four has a fully-faired bodywork with a nod to Honda's legendary CBR series. It is performance and aerodynamics-biased and is directed at riders who enjoy sporty handling and aggressive styling. These models are representative of Honda's approach in expanding its mid-size lineup with vintage and modern offerings.

Kawasaki also introduced a significant update to its KLX230, but this time in the area of price. After revised GST rates, the bike is now listed at Rs. 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 16,000 lower than before. The model is now in the 18% tax bracket compared to the earlier 28%.
The KLX230 comes with a 233cc single-cylinder engine that generates 18.74 bhp and 19.1 Nm of torque. It remains a popular choice among off-roaders due to its light weight and smoothness. The recent price drop now makes it an even more affordable choice for riders looking for an easy-to-use trail-capable motorcycle.
