New Delhi/Bangalore: Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the e-mobility arm of Greaves Cotton, has successfully raised Rs. 530 crore through a rights issue. The issue was fully subscribed by existing investors, which clearly shows their strong trust in the company’s future.
The company owns the popular electric two-wheeler brand Ampere, and this new investment will help it grow faster in the EV market. In addition, key investors like Greaves Cotton Limited and Abdul Latif Jameel Green Mobility Solutions continued to support the company, which further strengthens its position.
GEML plans to use this capital to develop next-generation electric two-wheelers. The company will focus on improving battery systems, powertrains, and overall technology. As a result, customers can expect better performance and an improved riding experience in upcoming Ampere electric scooters.
Moreover, the company aims to expand its product lineup and bring more advanced electric scooters for Indian buyers. This move may help GEML compete strongly with other EV brands in the market.
Karan Thapar, Chairman, Greaves Cotton Limited, said, “GCL’s strong balance sheet enables us to support organic growth and selectively invest behind businesses with clear long-term potential. Our continued investment in Greaves Electric Mobility reflects our confidence in its strategic direction, execution capabilities, and role in advancing India’s clean mobility transition. With its manufacturing footprint, engineering depth, expanding portfolio and focus on Building for Bharat, GEML is well placed to sustain its market-outperforming growth and create enduring value.”
Vikas Singh, Managing Director, Greaves Electric Mobility Limited, said, “We are grateful for the full subscription of the rights issue by our existing shareholders. Their continued support reflects strong confidence in Greaves Electric Mobility’s vision, strategy, and execution momentum. As India’s electric mobility market moves towards mass adoption, we remain focused on supporting the country’s clean mobility goals through differentiated products Built for Bharat, stronger technology capabilities, and reliable mobility solutions for our customers. This capital will help us accelerate innovation and further strengthen our product pipeline.”
Ampere electric scooters already have a strong presence in India. However, with this fresh funding, the brand plans to improve its offerings and reach more customers. The company continues to design products that suit Indian roads and daily commuting needs.
In addition, GEML is working on building reliable and affordable electric two-wheelers. This approach may attract more buyers who are planning to shift to electric mobility.
The demand for electric two-wheelers in India is rising quickly. Therefore, companies like Greaves Electric Mobility are focusing on innovation and expansion. This new investment comes at the right time, as the EV market is moving towards mass adoption.
Looking ahead, GEML plans to strengthen its presence in the electric two-wheeler segment. At the same time, the company continues to invest in engineering, manufacturing, and customer experience.
However, the company has decided not to move ahead with its public listing for now. Instead, it will wait for the right market conditions before taking that step.
Overall, Greaves Electric Mobility is moving in the right direction with this Rs. 530 crore investment. The strong backing from investors, focus on Ampere electric scooters, and push towards better technology will likely help the company grow further. Perhaps, this step will also support India’s shift towards clean and sustainable mobility.
