Bajaj has updated its Dominar motorcycle lineup in India, bringing a price revision for the Dominar 400. The motorcycle now reaches select dealerships with a smaller engine & revised pricing. Therefore, buyers may notice a clear drop in ex-showroom cost compared to the earlier version. The change comes due to revised engine displacement, which attracts a lower GST rate. However, the company has not yet shared full official details.

Price Difference Between Old and New Model

The earlier Dominar 400 came with a 373cc engine & was priced at Rs 2.40 lakh, ex-showroom. However, the updated version now uses a 349.13cc engine & costs Rs 2.03 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, buyers get a direct price reduction of around Rs 37,000. This drop comes mainly due to the lower 18 per cent GST slab on smaller engines. Hence, the revised pricing makes the motorcycle more accessible compared to the previous version.

Continues With ‘400’ Badge Despite Engine Change

Despite the reduced engine size, the motorcycle continues with the ‘400’ name. However, the actual engine capacity now stands at around 350cc. Bajaj has followed a similar naming pattern seen in recent models from other brands. Therefore, this decision helps maintain the same positioning in the market. In addition, changing the badge could affect how buyers view overall performance.

Engine Output and Mechanical Changes

As per dealer level details, the updated engine produces around 40.4 bhp & 33.2 Nm torque. However, this means a slight increase in power and a small drop in torque output. The change comes after reducing the stroke length while keeping the bore unchanged. Therefore, performance figures remain close to the previous version despite the smaller displacement.
Official Details Still Awaited
Bajaj has not yet announced the updated Dominar 400 officially. However, units have already started reaching dealerships across select locations. Hence, full specifications and feature details are expected soon. In addition, most other elements of the motorcycle may remain unchanged.
