Overview

BMW S 1000 XR is a litre-class sport touring motorcycle designed for road riding and long-distance touring. The bike features a semi-fairing design with an adjustable windscreen. It also gets a lightweight chassis and improved aerodynamics. The motorcycle was first launched in India on July 16, 2020, as a completely built-up unit (CBU).

The latest model of S 1000 XR introduces updated styling with symmetric LED headlamps, new body panels and several colour options. Currently, it is available in three colours: Light White, Black Storm Metallic 2, and Gravity Blue Metallic.

Price in India

The BMW S 1000 XR is priced at Rs 24.53 Lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in 2 variants: standard & Pro and arrives in India as a fully built CBU unit. It includes a standard three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty. Moreover, the optional extended warranty covers the fourth and fifth years.

Engine Performance

The motorcycle uses a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that is liquid-cooled with a 16-valve DOHC setup. The S 1000 XR produces 167.62 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 9,250 rpm. The engine is tuned for strong low and mid-range performance.

The BMW S 1000 XR top speed is around 253 kmph and it accelerates 0 to 100 kmph in 3.3 seconds. The bike uses a six-speed gearbox and 4th, 5th, and 6th gears have longer ratios for touring. Moreover, it includes a bi-directional quickshifter for more comfortable longer rides.

Mileage

The BMW S 1000 XR delivers an average mileage of 16 kmpl. Actual mileage varies with traffic and riding style. The 20-litre tank supports long-distance touring and it delivers 320 km of range.

You get full-LED lighting for clear visibility and a 6.5-inch Bluetooth-enabled TFT display that works smoothly with the BMW Motorrad Connected App. The bike also offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro. This gives you complete control over how the motorcycle responds.

In Dynamic Pro, you can fine-tune almost everything, including throttle response, engine braking, ABS levels, traction control, and even wheelie control. Apart from this, BMW S 1000 XR comes with cornering ABS (ABS Pro), Dynamic ESA suspension, Dynamic Brake Control, and MSR engine drag torque control.

It also includes an anti-hopping clutch that keeps downshifts smooth and stable. For added comfort, the bike includes heated grips, cruise control, keyless start, and adjustable brake and clutch levers, which makes S 1000 XR feel tailored to your riding style.

Specifications

BMW S 1000 XR weight is 227 kg and uses USD forks at the front with a mono-shock at the rear. The suspension is supported by BMW’s Dynamic ESA suspension system. Moreover, the bike has strong 320 mm twin discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and a 265 mm single disc at the rear, along with switchable ABS for added control.

The bike rides on cast aluminium wheels and offers a comfortable 850 mm BMW S 1000 XR seat height. The motorcycle also has a 1552 mm wheelbase provides stable and confident handling on every ride.
