Yamaha is Planning to Launch New 300cc Motorcycles in India

The upcoming launches include the 2023 Yamaha YZF-3 and MT-03, powered by a 321 cc engine.

Yamaha Motors recently unveiled an array of new motorcycles to its dealers, most of which are set to arrive in India. The long-awaited YZF-R3 and the MT-03 will be the first to arrive, with other motorcycles, such as R7 and MT-07 joining the battle later. The YZF-R3 and MT-03, in particular, will be available in the coming months.

Yamaha opted not to upgrade the 321 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine to satisfy stricter pollution rules. It faced a lack of volumes, and consumers preferred its more economical options, making it retired. The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 is popular worldwide, and the India-spec version will be nearly comparable. 

The DOHC liquid-cooled engine in both motorcycles will generate 40.4 hp and 29.4 Nm of peak torque and be attached to a six-speed gearbox. The list of standard features will include all LED lighting, disc brakes in front and rear with dual-channel ABS, USD front forks, rear mono-shock suspension, an LCD instrument cluster, and much more.

Few dealerships have started Unofficial bookings for the bikes. The YZF-R3 returns after a three-and-a-half-year term, mainly in competition with the KTM RC 390, BMW G310 RR, TVS Apache RR 310, and Kawasaki Ninja 300. Despite being a proficient supersport for track riding and everyday usage, the old R3 struggled to sell in large numbers at the end of its availability in the local market.

The 2023 Yamaha MT-03, on the other hand, will ride more upright, although it will share many features with its faired sibling. The naked streetfighter will compete against the KTM 390 Duke, the BMW G310 R, and the upcoming TVS 310 cc bike. 

The bike's success will mostly depend on the price strategy of the bike and how Yamaha will put these motorcycles competitively against its competitors at a similar or higher price. It is also to be seen what Yamaha brings to its Customers regarding Features, performance and comfort.
