Yamaha has finally entered the electric scooter market in India with two new models, the Aerox Electric and EC-06. The event took place in Mumbai, where Yamaha also launched the XSR155 and introduced the FZ-Rave. Both electric scooters are expected to go on sale in early 2026, most likely in January.

The Yamaha Aerox Electric is made for riders who enjoy sporty performance and stylish design. It looks similar to the Aerox 155 and comes with sharp and bold styling. The scooter has a 6kWh battery pack made up of two removable 3kWh batteries, which together offer a range of around 106km.
It is powered by a 9.4kW mid-mounted motor that makes 48Nm of torque. The Aerox-E comes with three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power, along with a Boost mode that gives extra power for quick overtakes.
It also features all-LED lighting and a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, maintenance reminders, and a last parked location feature via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. The scooter competes with the Ather 450 Apex, TVS X Electric, and Ultraviolette Tesseract.

The Yamaha EC-06 is designed for daily commuters and family use. It is based on the River Indie electric scooter and has been developed in partnership with Bengaluru-based startup River.
The EC-06 is powered by a 4kWh battery that gives an IDC range of 160km. It takes around nine hours to charge using a regular home plug. The 4.5kW motor delivers 6.7kW peak power, which provides a good mix of performance and efficiency.
The scooter has 14-inch wheels, telescopic front forks, twin rear shocks, and disc brakes on both wheels. It also offers USB charging, a colour LCD, and 24.5 litres of underseat storage for everyday use.
