The upcoming Triumph Bonneville 400 has been spotted testing again on Indian roads, revealing more details. This time, the bike appears almost undisguised, showing its strong retro appeal.

The overall design clearly follows the iconic Bonneville styling seen on bigger models. It features a round LED headlight, circular indicators, and an oval tail-light.

In addition, the teardrop-shaped fuel tank and long mudguards enhance its vintage look. Interestingly, the India-spec model includes practical additions like a saree guard and engine guard. These changes suggest that Triumph Motorcycles is focusing on local usability.

Engine Expectations & Performance Details

Triumph Bonneville 400

While official specifications are still under wraps, the Bonneville 400 is expected to use a 349cc engine. This engine will likely be a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit tuned for smooth and relaxed riding.

Perhaps, it could produce around 29PS and 31Nm, similar to the Triumph Speed T4. However, some reports suggest a slightly higher output depending on final tuning.

Globally, the model may retain a 398cc engine like the Triumph Speed 400. However, the smaller engine in India may help reduce pricing due to tax benefits.

Hardware Setup Keeps Things Simple Yet Effective

The Bonneville 400 continues with a classic hardware setup. It uses telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers for a comfortable ride.

In addition, the bike gets wire-spoke wheels and a peashooter-style exhaust, which adds to its vintage charm. The upright riding position also suggests relaxed city and highway performance.

Interestingly, the test bike shows chrome detailing on the exhaust and engine casing. These elements give it a more premium and traditional look.

Features & Expected Launch Timeline

Despite its retro design, the bike will include modern features. It is expected to get a single-pod digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. Moreover, turn-by-turn navigation could also be available.

However, the focus remains on simplicity rather than too many electronics. This approach aligns well with its classic identity. The launch timeline looks closer now, as testing appears nearly complete. Reports suggest a possible debut around September or October 2026.

Competition In The Segment

Once launched, the Bonneville 400 will compete with popular retro bikes. Key rivals include the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Royal Enfield Bullet 350, Honda CB350, and Jawa 350. Overall, the Bonneville 400 aims to blend heritage styling with modern usability. If priced well, it could attract many retro bike enthusiasts in India.
