Royal Enfield is making a new adventure motorcycle, probably named the Himalayan 440. This model will be placed between the Scram 440 and the Himalayan 450.
In 2023, the Himalayan 411 was discontinued, and the company observed an evident price gap. The 450 is more expensive but also higher in performance. Hence, numerous riders seek a more basic and cheaper alternative.
The next Himalayan 440 may fix this issue. It can be released in the festive season later this year. It will be priced at a middle range with a possible price of about Rs 2.5 lakh.
The new bike will likely follow the old Himalayan 411’s design style. However, it could include small updates for a fresh look.
For example, it may feature a round headlamp, a tall stance, and a compact windscreen. In addition, expect raised front fenders and simple body panels. These elements keep the rugged and practical feel alive.
The bike may also get split seats and an upswept exhaust. These details improve both comfort and off-road ability. Perhaps new colors and graphics will give it a modern touch.
Wheel setup could include a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear combination. This setup suits rough roads and trails well. However, it is still unclear if tubeless spoke wheels will be available.
The Himalayan 440 will likely use the same engine as the Scram 440. This means a 443cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine.
It produces around 25.4 PS power and 34 Nm torque. In comparison, the Himalayan 450 delivers much higher performance. However, the 440 focuses more on ease and reliability.
In addition, the 6-speed gearbox will improve highway comfort. Riders may enjoy smoother cruising compared to the older 411.
The simpler engine design also helps in easy maintenance. This could appeal to riders who travel long distances in remote areas.
The Himalayan 440 will not be loaded with advanced electronics. Instead, it will focus on essential features.
For instance, it may include switchable ABS and the Tripper navigation system. These features offer useful support without raising costs too much.
However, advanced systems like traction control and riding modes may not be included. This keeps the bike straightforward and rider-friendly.
The reduced seat height might be one of the benefits. The previous Himalayan 411 was 800 mm high in the seat.
On the contrary, the Himalayan 450 is heavier and taller. Thus, the 440 might be more comfortable to ride for most riders.
Secondly, the suspension system might provide excellent rough road travel. This renders it appropriate for urban rides and adventure weekends.
