Top Highlights of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Key Things to Know

Adventure loving riders are very happy with the launch of the all new Royal Enfield Himalayan 440. Even the brand has promoted this model on a big scale. However, it's not new that an RE bike got launched and it doesn’t create hype. But something’s different with the Himalayan 440.

Many riders missed the simple design and low speed pull of the original Himalayan 411. The brand also considered this concern of its buyers, and they finally introduced Himalayan 440. This motorcycle brought back that classic look with a bigger 443cc air/oil cooled engine. Not only this, but it also features a 6 speed gearbox, and the price starts at just Rs. 2.29 lakh (ex showroom).

In this blog, let’s understand what are the top things you need to know about this new motorcycle.

1. Refined 443cc Engine with 6 Speeds

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Engine

The first best thing is the Himalayan 440 engine. This bike gets a 443cc single cylinder engine that produces 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It focuses on strong pull at low speeds rather than high racing velocity.

FeatureWhat It Offers
Low End Torque Easy trail riding & low speed crawling in city traffic
6th Gear Highway OverdriveRelaxed cruising at 90 to 100 kmph without engine stress
Air/Oil Cooling SetupNo radiator punctures or water pump hassles on long tours

The peak torque comes early; this means you can easily climb sloped paths or ride through city traffic without constantly changing gears. The new 6th gear lets you cruise smoothly on open highways with minimal handlebar vibration.

Riders who often go on mountain rides are gonna love the engine performance and an additional gear.

2. Low Seat Height and Good Clearance

Himalayan 440 Seat Height

Taller adventure bikes can be hard to handle for shorter riders, but this bike has resolved that issue as well. This RE bike makes things easier with a low 800 mm seat height, letting most riders place both feet flat on the ground at traffic signals.

DimensionSpecification
Seat Height800 mm
Ground Clearance220 mm
Kerb Weight199 kg
Fuel Tank Capacity15.0 Litres

Even with a low seat, you still get a generous ground clearance. This means the bottom of your bike is safe from scraping against big speed bumps, rocks, or deep potholes.

3. Comfortable Long Travel Suspension

The bike uses a half duplex, split cradle frame built to handle heavy luggage bags for touring.

  • Front Suspension: 41 mm telescopic forks with 200 mm wheel travel.
  • Rear Suspension: Linkage monoshock absorber with 180 mm wheel travel.
  • Wheels & Tyres: 21 inch front and 17 inch rear spoked wheels with tubed tyres.

The suspension setup of this adventure tourer bike easily absorbs road cracks, unpaved dirt trails, and rough patches so your back stays comfortable during long journeys.

4. Simple Tech and Safety Features

Instead of complex electronics, the Himalayan 440 focuses on simple, useful features:

  • Digital Analogue Meter: It has an easy to read and simple analogue speedo paired with a digital screen. It shows important riding details like fuel level, trip stats, and gear position.
  • Tripper Pod: The Turn by turn Google Maps navigation displayed right beside your speed screen via Bluetooth.
  • Switchable Rear ABS: The dual channel ABS allows you to turn off the rear ABS when riding off road on dirt or sand.
  • Modern Features: It includes an LED headlight, bright LED tail lamp, which is helpful on night journeys. Moreover, the USB Type C charging port keeps your phone charged on the go.

5. Classic Colours and Price

The Himalayan 440 price starts at Rs. 2.29 lakh (ex showroom). It is priced competitively against other entry level tourers. You can choose from three simple yet attractive Himalayan 440 colour options:

  1. Mustang Brown
  2. Nelong White
  3. Sela Black (comes with a special 10th anniversary tank badge)

Final Thoughts

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is built for riders who want an easy to ride adventure motorcycle without overly complicated electronics. It offers low end power, comfortable seating, simple mechanics, and a relaxed highway ride. It works great as a daily office commuter during the week and an easy trail explorer on the weekend.
