Kawasaki Launches Ninja 500 at Rs 5.24 Lakh

Kawasaki has just launched the new Ninja 500 in India, and it's priced at Rs 5.24 lakh, ex-showroom price. This latest addition joins Kawasaki's existing lineup in India, which includes the Ninja 400 and the Ninja 300. What's interesting is that the Ninja 500 is priced exactly the same as the Ninja 400.

Now, there's uncertainty regarding whether Kawasaki will keep selling the Ninja 400 alongside the new Ninja 500 or if they'll eventually phase out the former.

Kawasaki Ninja 500: Engine & Transmission

Kawasaki Ninja 500 features a new 451cc engine designed for smooth and powerful acceleration. It offers riders an exciting riding experience with a maximum power output of 45 PS at 9,000 rpm and torque of 42.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm.

The engine maintains strong performance in the high rpm range, making it easy to reach higher speeds. Ninja 500 has a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin engine paired with a lightweight chassis, and it's great for everyday riding or in different situations. Equipped with fuel injection, digital ignition, and forced lubrication, the engine ensures reliable performance. A 6-speed transmission is also included with Kawasaki Ninja 500 for smooth gear changes.

Ninja 500 features a chassis with a short-wheelbase/long swingarm design for easy manoeuvring. Its optimised trail setting ensures natural and light handling.

Kawasaki's Assist & Slipper Clutch provides a light clutch pull for rider-friendly riding in everyday situations. It reduces skipping and hopping from the rear wheel for better sport riding and increased confidence.
 

Large-Diameter Brake Disc

With a 310 mm semi-floating front disc (similar to the Ninja ZX-14R), the Ninja 500 offers reliable stopping power. ABS provide added braking power and safety. Meanwhile, the rear brake features a 220 mm disc with a dual-piston calliper.
 

Suspension

Ninja 500 is equipped with a 41 mm telescopic fork for the front suspension and a Bottom-Link Uni-Trak system with adjustable preload for the rear. This suspension setup helps to maintain tyre contact with the ground, improving traction, handling, and stability on rough terrain for a smooth riding experience. 
 

Relaxed, Sporty Riding Position 

Ninja 500 features a relaxed rider triangle suitable for various rider sizes and riding situations. Its elevated handle position and slightly foot-forward footpeg position ensure rider comfort while maintaining control over the bike.
 

Kawasaki Ninja 500: Design & Aesthetics

The design of Kawasaki Ninja 500 is an improvement from the Ninja 400, with sharper and sleeker lines that show its purpose. But Kawasaki only offers it in Metallic Spark Black, not the attractive SE version found in other countries.

Underneath, the Ninja 500 has a trellis frame holding a telescopic fork in the front and a monoshock in the rear, along with 17-inch wheels. It stands out from its predecessor with a bigger 310mm front disc for braking. Its updated "face" features compact headlights and forward spoilers, making it look more aggressive.
 

Kawasaki Ninja 500: Additional Features

Ninja 500 features smartphone connectivity through Bluetooth on its LCD instrument panel, offering access to notifications, riding logs, and community features. Bluetooth connectivity is standard, providing access to various information for an enhanced riding experience.
 

Bookings for the Ninja 500 have now opened, with deliveries set to kick off in March. However, the Ninja 500, imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), comes with a hefty price tag, surpassing its main competitors, the Yamaha R3 and the Aprilia RS457.
