Hero MotoCorp has filed a design patent in India for a new commuter motorcycle. Although the company has not shared any official details, the patent drawings reveal several interesting design elements. Moreover, the new motorcycle looks similar to the Hero Hunter 125, which is currently available in select African markets. However, a closer look shows that the upcoming model has a few important differences.
These changes suggest that Hero could be developing a new commuter motorcycle specifically for the Indian market.
The overall shape of the patented motorcycle closely matches the Hero Hunter 125 sold in countries like Nigeria. It features a simple commuter design with a flat single-piece seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a practical body style.
The African-market Hunter 125 uses a 124.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine and is built for everyday commuting. Likewise, the patented model follows a similar design philosophy. However, Hero has made a few noticeable updates that make it different from the existing motorcycle.
One of the biggest differences appears in the engine layout. The Hunter 125 sold overseas uses a slanted engine, similar to the engines found in the Splendor, Passion, and HF Deluxe.
However, the motorcycle shown in the patent features a more upright engine design. While Hero has not confirmed the engine specifications, this layout could indicate a revised mechanical package.
In addition, the instrument cluster also looks different. Instead of a single-pod console, the new design features a twin-pod setup. This unit closely resembles the instrument cluster used on the Hero Hunter 100 ES sold in African markets.
The patent suggests that Hero may launch a new 125cc commuter motorcycle inspired by the Hunter family. Among upcoming Hero Bikes, this model could attract buyers looking for a simple, reliable, and practical daily commuter.
Perhaps Hero may introduce it as part of its existing commuter lineup or launch it under an entirely new name. However, the company has not yet confirmed its plans.
At present, Hero MotoCorp has only filed the design patent, and there is no official information about the motorcycle's launch or specifications.
Even so, the updated design, revised engine layout, and new instrument cluster indicate that Hero could be preparing another commuter motorcycle for the Indian market. More details are expected in the coming months.
