Ather Energy has reached a milestone by manufacturing its 500,000th scooter from its facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer has seen exponential growth in the last few years. The milestone model is its family flagship model Rizta, which became a growth engine since its launch last year. The achievement highlights Ather's expansion in India and commitment towards promoting electric mobility.
The Ather Rizta has quickly emerged as a core contributor, accounting for over one-third of total production volumes. In addition, Ather has expanded its presence in metro cities and tier-II and tier-III regions. Also, Co-founder and CTO, Ather Energy, Swapnil Jain, said, “Crossing 500,000 scooters is a major milestone for Ather. This achievement reflects years of focused engineering, rigorous testing, and meticulous attention to quality at every stage of production. It also highlights the dedication of our teams and the trust of our owner community.”
Ather has two facilities in Hosur, one where they assemble the scooter and the other for making the batteries. The two factories have an aggregate capacity to produce 420,000 scooters per year. Sales of electric scooters are increasing at a very rapid pace, especially for the Rizta variant.
To fulfill the increasing requirement, Ather will open Factory 3.0 in Bidkin, Maharashtra. The new facility will adhere to Industry 4.0 levels, incorporating digital technologies for improved efficiency. Yet, to meet the capacity, the company's overall annual production capacity will increase to 1.42 million electric scooters.
