2026 KTM 790 Duke Leaked With 103 BHP Output, New LED Face and WP Brakes

KTM seems ready to bring back the 790 Duke in an updated form, as the next-generation model has surfaced in Chinese type-approval documents. The leaked details give us a clear look at the new design, updated components and confirmed performance figures. Moreover, the appearance in official documents suggests that production could begin later this year.

Sharper Styling Inspired by Bigger Dukes

At first glance, the 2026 KTM 790 Duke looks more aggressive than before. The motorcycle now features a centrally mounted LED projector headlamp with split LED DRLs on either side. Although the setup looks similar to the 990 Duke, KTM has given the 790 its own unique headlight unit. As a result, the bike carries a fresh yet familiar face.

In addition, KTM has redesigned the fuel tank and side panels. The new tank looks sharper and more muscular, which gives the streetfighter a bold road presence. The rear section also gets an updated subframe, likely made of cast aluminium, along with a stepped seat. Even the mirrors appear borrowed from the 990 Duke, which adds to the premium feel.

Engine and Performance Figures Revealed

KTM continues with the 799cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. According to the leaked documents, the bike produces 77kW, which equals around 103bhp, and weighs 185kg kerb. Interestingly, this makes it 2kg lighter than the outgoing model. However, in Europe, KTM may limit the output to 70kW (around 94bhp) to allow an A2 licence version.

The wheelbase now measures 1,476mm, which is just 1mm longer than before. Therefore, the riding dynamics should feel quite similar to the current bike. The 6-speed gearbox continues, and riders can expect the same sharp and lively performance that the Duke range is known for.

New WP Brakes and Updated Hardware

KTM has replaced the earlier J.Juan brake callipers with WP-sourced units. This move aligns with KTM’s push toward using more in-house components. In addition, the bike now gets new disc rotors and an India-made Bosch 9.3MP dual-channel ABS system.

The WP suspension setup and steel trellis frame appear largely unchanged. However, these updates show that KTM aims to improve performance while also keeping costs in check.

The new 790 Duke will continue production in China at KTM’s joint venture facility with CFMoto. That explains why the model first appeared in Chinese filings and carries the ‘KTMR2R’ badge on the tank.
