The Mavrick 440 is Hero's most powerful bike yet. It has a stylish design and shares most of its underpinnings with the Harley-Davidson X440. With its well-rounded features, the bike already stands out, though USD forks could be a great enhancement.Overall, the Mavrick 440 is a solid choice for its reliability, easy servicing, and comfort for both rider and pillion. It performs well on rough roads, which makes it a great choice in its segment.
When Hero MotoCorp unveiled the Mavrick 440, it marked a significant shift from their traditional lineup of smaller-capacity motorcycles. This 440cc machine positions Hero in the lineup of powerful, aspirational bikes, standing as their most potent and premium offering to date.

On initial impression, the Mavrick 440 offers a distinct combination of naked bike aggression and cruiser comfort. The styling features a muscular front, defined by a wide fuel tank that is positioned above the LED headlamp. Further, the bike has an aggressive stance, with huge tank shrouds at the front, which adds to its macho & streetfighter looks.

The side profile exposes chassis tubes and has a solo seat arrangement. This provides a macho style that may appeal differently to riders. Some will enjoy its distinctness, while others may find it to have a commuter-like style.
The rear part is significant with its wider tire, prominent grab handle, and large turn signals. Overall, the fit, finish, and painting are good, showing a premium feel that beats other Hero offerings.

The Mavrick 440 uses the same platform as the Harley-Davidson X440. It comes with a 440cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine but it has 2Nm less torque than its counterpart. This bike makes 26bhp and 36Nm of maximum torque. Nevertheless, this minor drawback doesn't affect performance anyhow because it is 4kg lighter.

While testing, when we crossed 100 kmph, there was a slight vibration on the handlebar. However, the engine is very smooth and has hardly any vibrations at medium speeds. Further, there is a huge positive aspect of the engine's low-end torque. The 90% of it lies below 2,000rpm, which gives tremendous acceleration and silky smooth overtakes even in top gears. The fueling is accurate, something that was not so with the older Hero bikes. It has a mileage of 40 Kmpl.
The Mavrick 440 is responsive and easy to ride. The frame in combination with a front wheel of 17-inches and wide handlebars makes riders feel comfortable. The vehicle is responsive at ideal speeds and feels enjoyable to the rider. The suspension is also comfortable and absorbs bumps along the way, avoiding fatigue when riding for long periods.

The seat is easy to mount, and the design is convenient for commuting, touring, and light off-road riding. It is easy to ride upright in traffic situations, and the balanced weight distribution renders the bike more manageable.

The Mavrick 440 comes with LED lighting all around, with the headlamp having built-in DRLs. The cluster has a negative LCD that supports Bluetooth as well as smartphone connectivity. It also provides turn-by-turn directions, calls, message alerts, and phone battery levels.

However, the display's compact size and limited brightness can make it challenging to read. Additionally, the absence of display-mounted control for handlebars limits convenience. Further, the standard features include a USB port and dual-channel ABS. The suspension system comprises traditional telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear with seven-step preload adjustability.

After spending some significant time with the Hero Mavrick 440, it's clear that this motorcycle has a very effective package. Hero MotoCorp has managed to push into the higher-capacity segment, bringing a bike that is easy to handle, responsive, and packs a punch in the low- and mid-range. The comfort factor is nicely maintained, which makes it apt for any kind of riding. Priced competitively, the Mavrick 440 is great value and can be expected to steal market share in the 400cc segment, even potentially disrupt the 250cc segment.
