Sherpa FT: A Modified Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Unveiled

Sherpa FT is a modified Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. It was unveiled at the 2024 Bike Shed Moto Show in London. This is the first officially modified version of the Himalayan 450. Moreover, the Royal Enfield Sherpa FT modified bike features a typical flat-tracker design with minimal bodywork. 

This modified Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 appears to be made from carbon fibre. It has a flat, single-piece seat. However, it lacks the usual parts needed for road legality, such as a lighting system and windshield. This design highlights a clean, streamlined look, focusing on performance and aesthetics for flat-track racing.  
 

What is Revealed About The Sherpa FT at Shed Moto Show?  

While unveiling Sherpa FT at the 2024 Bike Shed Moto Show in London, various custom features of the bike were revealed. This Royal Enfield bike has a custom aluminium sub-frame and swing arm. The engine, which usually produces 40.02PS and 40Nm, might have internal modifications. However, it definitely includes an Arrow free-flow exhaust for better performance.

Royal Enfield Sherpa FT modified’s suspension has been upgraded, replacing the inverted fork with a Nitron telescopic fork and the stock monoshock with a Nitron monoshock. True to flat-tracker style, it doesn’t have a front brake; the rear brake features a large disc with Brembo callipers. It also has bear claw footpegs for improved grip. The bike uses chunky Maxxis flat-track tyres on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels.

Additionally, the handlebar grips are custom-made. The stock handlebar has been replaced with a wider, easier-to-reach Pro Taper handlebar. The bike also features a quick throttle for better performance and control. 
 

What Are RE’s Plans? 

Instead of launching a production version of the Sherpa FT in India, Royal Enfield has different plans. They are developing the Royal Enfield Scram 440, which will be based on the Scram 411. Furthermore, Royal Enfield will likely phase out the FT411 flat tracker, based on the Himalayan 411, and replace it with the Sherpa FT. This change might happen later this year at Royal Enfield’s Slide Schools.
