The Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company River has announced an 8-year or 80,000-kilometre extended warranty for its flagship scooter, the River Indie. Further the warranty also covers both the battery and motor, which are the most important parts of an EV. With this step, River wants to give customers more confidence and better value for money. In addition to that, the company aims to ensure buyers of long-term benefits.

The new warranty plan will be available from October 1 for both new bookings and current River Indie owners. Customers who earlier chose the 5-year extended warranty will also be able to upgrade to the new plan. This shows River’s customer-first approach and ensures that even existing riders can enjoy the new coverage.
The 8-year or 80,000-kilometre warranty is priced at Rs 8,399 plus GST for customers who purchased after April 1, 2025. Meanwhile, those who already hold the 5-year extended warranty can upgrade by paying Rs 3,399 plus GST. Under this program, River will provide support if the battery’s State of Health (SOH) drops below 70 percent or if the motor stops working after repair attempts.
Sachin Patial, Service Head, River, said, “We are excited to introduce this extended warranty initiative, which underscores our strong confidence in River’s engineering and product quality. Today’s consumers value long-term trust and dependability, and with this 8-year warranty covering both the battery and motor, we aim to go beyond expectations by reinforcing our promise of durable and dependable mobility solutions.”
At present, River has 32 outlets in 15 cities, which include Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysuru, Kochi, and Visakhapatnam. Recently, it also started operations in Pune, Vijayawada, and Trivandrum as part of its growing network. By 2026, the company plans to reach all major cities in India through both company-owned and dealer-run stores.
With this long-term warranty, River has taken a big step in India’s EV scooter market. River Indie is not only going to offer new technology but also provide customers with peace of mind. Thus, this move is expected to encourage more customers to consider electric scooters and increase adoption across the country.
