New Hero Dual-Sport Bike Patent Reveals Adventure Design

Hero MotoCorp has patented the design of a new dual-sport adventure motorcycle in India. At first, the bike may look like a possible return of the Impulse. However, its design and mechanical parts suggest a different motorcycle.

The patent images show several similarities with the Hero Hunk 150R, which Hero sells in markets such as Bangladesh and Nepal. The engine casing and cylinder design appear similar to the Hunk 150R. Therefore, Hero could develop this motorcycle mainly for markets where smaller adventure bikes have strong demand.

New Hero Bike Could Get a Carburetted Engine

Interestingly, the motorcycle appears to use a carburetted engine. The patent images show a kickstarter, fuel tap and choke knob on the left side. These parts usually point to a simple carburettor setup. Such a setup could suit some markets with less strict emission rules. In addition, Hero Bikes with simpler engines could help the brand keep costs lower in these markets.

Design Looks Similar to Hero Impulse

The overall design looks similar to the discontinued Hero Impulse 150. The fuel tank and tank shrouds especially remind us of the older dual-sport motorcycle.

However, Hero has used parts that look familiar from its current range. The tail lamp resembles units seen on the Xtreme 125R and XPulse 210. Meanwhile, the headlight appears similar to the Xtreme 160R and older Passion Pro 110 XTEC.

The new motorcycle gets a raised front mudguard and a high-mounted exhaust. Moreover, it uses a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock. Disc brakes at both ends should provide adequate stopping power. The overall setup clearly focuses on light off-road use and everyday riding.

India Launch Looks Unlikely

Hero already sells the XPulse 200 as its entry-level adventure motorcycle in India. However, the Hunk 150R no longer sells in the Indian market. Therefore, an India launch for this new motorcycle seems unlikely at present. Perhaps Hero is developing it mainly for export markets in South America, Africa and other regions where simple dual-sport motorcycles remain popular. For now, Hero has not confirmed the motorcycle's name, engine details or launch plans.
