KTM is getting ready to launch a new bike in India called the KTM 160 Duke. This bike will be the most affordable KTM in the country and is likely to arrive by the end of August 2025. It is made for people who want a stylish and sporty bike without spending too much money. KTM wants to offer good performance at a lower price with this new model.
As the name hints, the new KTM 160 Duke will come with a 160cc, liquid-cooled engine. This new motor will be based on the current 200 Duke’s platform, although exact details about power output are still not shared. However, KTM is expected to tune it to match the performance levels of rivals like the Yamaha MT-15 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
The choice of engine configuration should help the brand strike a balance between performance and cost. It also ensures the new model fits well within the entry-level segment.
One of the most important updates is the use of the second-generation KTM 200 Duke’s platform. KTM has opted for this setup to keep production costs lower, since adopting the third-generation frame would have made the 160 Duke more expensive. Therefore, this platform choice keeps the new bike more affordable for Indian buyers.
Because of this, the 160 Duke will not be launched in international markets. It will be a model made specially for India, targeted at customers looking for a street bike under Rs. 2 lakh.
When it comes to looks, the 160 Duke is expected to follow the styling of the second-generation KTM 200 Duke. However, it will come with new paint options and graphics to make a separate identity. Additionally, the main design elements will be shared, these colour updates will help set the 160 Duke apart on the road.
Lastly, the aggressive streetfighter styling should appeal to younger riders looking for a stylish commuter motorcycle.
KTM 160 Duke is expected to be launched in India by the end of August 2025. KTM will price the bike around Rs. 1.85 Lakh (ex-showroom), placing it below the 200 Duke in the brand’s lineup. This price point will help KTM enter the lower premium commuter market.
Though, with this new bike, KTM wants to offer better value while maintaining its image as a sporty and youthful brand.
