KTM 990RC R Sports Bike Prototype Revealed: Launching in 2025

KTM has unveiled the prototype of the 990 RC R sports bike. It is ready for launch in 2025. This model marks KTM’s return to road sports bikes following the success of the limited edition RC 8C. The 990 RC R aims to continue the legacy of KTM’s superbike lineup, which follows the discontinued RC8. The prototype features a striking design with hidden fairings, winglets, and a MotoGP-inspired tail.

The production version will be powered by a Euro5+ compliant engine. This KTM motorcycle is likely to have a stronger model of the motor used inside the 990 Duke motorcycle. KTM's move back into the sports motorbike section indicates its commitment to gratifying the needs of fanatics.

What is Expected in the Upcoming KTM 900RC R Sports Bike?

KTM 990 RC R sportbike will be powered by a 947cc LC8C parallel-twin engine producing 128 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. The upcoming KTM bike features a steel frame paired with a diecast aluminium subframe. Moreover, KTM has also enhanced chassis stiffness to enhance stability during acceleration and agility.

The prototype's design of the KTM 900RC R features a trellis frame, blacked-out swingarm, and Brembo brakes visible beneath its camouflage. Notable performance elements include fully adjustable WP Apex suspension and Michelin-wrapped cast aluminium wheels. The KTM 990 RC R is inspired by MotoGP technology and incorporates aerodynamic winglets.

KTM's commitment to versatility shines through, with engineers focusing on balancing street and track ergonomics. The bike's ergonomics, though optimised for the intensity of track racing, promise a comfortable experience.

Moreover, KTM has exciting plans to offer a track-focused edition of the 990 RC R. The company will strip away road-legal necessities and add protective components and a full Akrapovic exhaust. The base model requires minimal modifications to transition from street to track spec.

It will come with anticipated riding modes, IMU improvements, traction control, and a six-speed gearbox with a quick-shifter.
